House insurance has just come up for renewal and I was wondering if anyone could recommend anybody that includes bikes. Currently with M&S as bikes upto £4K are included.
Cheers

Cheers Got mine with the Halifax and separately listed the bike to be covered as an additional item with a set value - cost an additional £60 I think for mine (£1,700 value) and they seemed fairly competitive on the house/contents policy. They were also offering £50 cash back on taking up the policy and an ongoing £50 each year on renewal.

Im with LLoyds tsb and they will insure the bike if stolen from within the house but not outside. Bike specific insurance can be pretty steep.

At the moment I'm with Cycleguard (JLT Online - same people who seem to do most bike specific insurance)
It was quite a reasonable £50 a year for 2 bikes but now I want to add on my Giant and Merida it's going to cost an extra £150 a year. Also their policy only lets you have 3 bikes on one policy and a maximum value at any one location which isn't that good.
I'm looking at getting it added to my home insurance - it's a bit cheaper but still a bit of a jump because I rent and only have contents insurance.

I heard Halifax are now offering accidental damage cover to bikes on their home insurance

This may or may not help, I get my insurance through the police, backed by cornhill. They pay out even if I forget to lock the garage, not that I would I'd shop around, you'll be suprised what you can find

stick with m&s imo!! i searched and searched for ages. they cover the bike at home, or away from home. even if you kill it on the trail you'll get a replacement. and as you quoted it up to the value of 4k. it even covers you abroad for up to 30 days at no extra cost. this goes for all sports equipment. surfboards, snowboards etc.

stick with m&s imo!! i searched and searched for ages. they cover the bike at home, or away from home. quote] Yeah i agree with gar 100% i read loads of forums with same comments about M&S being the better option. I have just gone over too them last month and grilled the lady about details of policy, i asked if the garage needed a 5 lever lock on the door = No asked if it needed to be fixed by a lock with rating or if they require certain lock = no. Just as long as it is under 4K. also covered me for any expensive items away from home, so covers theft from me truck, etc. Basically you cant go leaving it outside in the garden like!! I changed as i had to name items with L&G but M&S cover all items <4k so got me Breitling covered too. ;D Me mate got run into by a van and smashed his carbon giant and was off work for a while - claimed on his M&S insurance as took out the legal cover (xtra few quid) now their fighting van drivers insurance company for payout and new bike plus damages and not costing me mate anything. he was happy with them too. (didnt like the crash part though)

Both me and my wifes bikes add up to just over £4k and when I was looking round for insurance, the cost and conditions made it non viable ie if I had implemented all the requirements, no one could have stolen it anyway As such I decided it wasn't worth it and so improved security instead by extending the house alarm to garage, presure plates, movement sensors etc and steel chains etc bolted to the wall. You'd have to demolish half the house to get those bikes away

just bought house insurance with the AA. I only have 1 bike and the policy states that as long as the value of the bike is less than £2500 all ok. I paid an extra £15 to have it insured away from the house ie if it was stolen from my roof rack. I did ask about accidental damage but was told that only specialist insurance companies do this and very expensive. I did look at M&S but the insurance policy cost an extra £180 I'd rather spend that money on BEEEEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRR.
