I'm looking at buying a turbotrainer to help get through those dark winter nights. Does anyone have any advice or suggestions for what would be most suitable? I've got about £120 to spend on one.

At that price range the best buy IMO is the CycleOp mag trainer with remote shifter for £135. Also available without shifter for £100 atm. Whilst nice, adjustable resistance is not essential as you can achieve the similar result by changing gear. CycleOps trainers have are one of the best on the market. Another alternative is a set of Rollers. Rollers do take quite a bit of getting used to, some riders never get to grips with them but they do offer a more lifelike riding experience as you have to maintain your balance whilst riding them.

By 'eck, is it that time of year again? I bought the Tacx Siros last November and its extremly quiet. It was about £100 ish from wiggle. But you do have to be motivated if getting one as it'll probably soon gather dust like mine

Doug, thanks very much for the suggestion of rollers - I have used them before and they're not easy to get used to but once you do they're pretty good. The downside is my wife wants to use the TT too and I can just imagine her face if I came home with a set of rollers for her to use

I'd recommend getting one of these DVD's www.wiggle.co.uk/p/cycle/7/Tacx_I-Magic_and_Fortius_DVD_Discs/5360032160/They're really good to workout to and take the boredom away. You can use them with any turbo trainer because on the right hand side of the screen a number is displayed letting you know what your resistance should be. They're abit pricey for a DVD, but I'm sure you'd be able burn copies and sell them on the forum ;D ;D
