RRP Raceguards

Anyone else use them in winter or when it's wet. The amount of rubbish they keep out of your face is amazing but without the vulnerability of a normal mudguard.

Very good, I'd never ride without one again in the winter, stops 99.9% of the crap thrown forward off the front wheel from coming back into your face and upperbody.

I did make my own last year from an old lizard skins rear shock cover, just cut off the velsro edges, put four small holes in it at each corner and zip tied it to the fork, worked a treat.

I bought a proper one though coz they look better than the homemade route.

Do you get any rubbing where they attach to the forks? They must hold grit etc where they go round, how much abrasion do you get. Anyone gone through the fork paint yet?

Dave and I have been talking about these for a while now.
So as Dave has asked anybody noticed any wear?

Never had any wearing on the fork using the homemade version with zip-ties. Too early to say about the RRP version as I've only had it on for 1 month, looks good so far.

Never thought of it wearing the paint away, I must keep an eye on that.

Neither myself or anyone I know whop rides with one has had any wearing issues. Once fitted they don't move against the fork.

I havn't had any problems yet, they have more reduced the wear on my fork paint than increased, as i use the straps to hold a pesky rubbing cable

took the plunge and have bought one. First ride with it last week but not wet enough to notice any difference to normal. It's normal wanting wet weather to ride in to test some kit out.

I used one for the first time today, went for a blast around the marin and was very impressed with it, okay it didnt stop everything, especially when charging through the big puddles that were there today but i wasnt expecting it to do that.

I rode the beast yesterday without one and from using it today I can say they really come in to there own when flying down wet fire roads, yesterday i couldn't see a thing and was having to squint my eyes that much they were almost closed, today i didn't need to close my eyes at all. The RRP Raceguard gets my vote, chainreaction have a few different designs as well, i managed to get one with orange writing to match my bike, how Gay ;D

It's a great, simple product and well worth the money in my opinion. Agree with the comments that it doesn't stop crap and water flying into your face 100% of the time, but it's pretty damn good all the same. I haven't experienced any paint-wearing issues with it. It goes on/comes off in seconds, weighs virtually nothing and fits in the smallest of pockets. I wouldn't be without one again, specially with the amount of crud Minions flick up!

They do keep most of the crap out of your eyes, the only issue I have is forgetting to put to it on before a wet ride, and the first time you remember is when you getcrap in your eye >:(
