Another quality ride today fellas ;)

I must admit I was sweating a bit when the pie shop was closed :o But thankfully Al used his charm and got us a sneaky "Behind Closed Doors" pie ;)

Thanks for all your help fixing my tyre ;D ;D

The repair held up well and I managed to get home in one piece.

Sorry I missed the second half of the ride though ::)

Heres some pic's 8-)

What have you done there?
Slashed tyre or cracked rim?

Did you get caught in the fog (about 11am) like we did at Llandegla? ???

Split the side wall from the bead about 3-4inches along the rim :'(

God knows how. We were climbing up towards trevor rocks when BANG and the tyre was gone ;D ;D

Good emg repair though. I had to stop by worlds end to reapply the bandage, but then it got me all the way back to the plough. I even hammered Offas decent and it held up ok ;D

Good trick is to keep some used toothpaste tube in your camelbak it makes an ace tyre patch, just cut both ends off, split it down one side and clean it up (unless you like minty flavour tyres) then you can place it inside the tyre over the split. Oh and wrap some duct tape around your pump it can then be used for lotsa bodges.

Have to admit that's a quality trailside repair thou.

Quality ride today lads. Thanks for the invite :D Reminded me why I prefer cross country riding to trail centres. I hadn't ridden the Offa's downhill section for about 15 years, I now remember what I've been missing :D

Once again, I think I may have taken one or two pictures too many ;)

Really good photos. Looks like a varied and interesting route, with some awesome views to boot. How long is it? Would love to give it a go sometime if you ever organise one that doesn't start at insane o'clock :)

Looks like I missed a cracking route, although luckily if I had done it I wouldn't have got far as my handlebars bearings seized up on saturday morning :'(

another cracking pie run, but gutted for phil after his tyre explosion. I thought a mad farmer was shouting at us. That downhill from the boards has to be the best one.

There was another one of those around the tube inside the tyre too ;D

What happened to the photo of Al coming down the last descent ???

Cheers Dan,

Like NP said, I wrapped about 500mm of the old tube around the new inner tube first. Then wrapped the rest around the outside to try and stop the tube bulging out of the side wall :-/

Only had to stop once to deflate then reapply as the side wall started to bulge and catch on the rear stay.

I nursed it back home, getting off on the rough climbs and keeping to tarmac wherever possible. That said it was still in one piece after I threw caution to the wind on the last offa descent ;D

I have to give Al credit for being the first to mention wrapping the tube around the rim :-*

Also a big thanks to the two roadies who stopped to ask if I was ok, when I was re-applying the bodge. Most unlike the usual roadie types ::)

Very nice of them, maybe they do mtbing also. You do get to see some very strange roadies, but in fairness to them I usually get a friendly hello from most.

The picture of Al on that final decent came out a bit blurred. Al will say he was going too fast ::) I think the camera settings were playing up ;D

Anyway, I don't like posting blurred pictures, but I'll make an exception this once.

Al on the best downhill in the area, with a f.a.g. in his mouth ::)
(it isn't big and it isn't clever ;D )

And there he goes -
