Well, after a mate from down South had to cancel an epic weekend in Scotland, he decided on a trip up to North Wales. And he said 'Can you sort us an epic ride out for Friday?'. So I delivered
After meeting at Sychnat Pass early this morning it was blowing an absoulute gale, the rain was horizontal and the mood was very apprehensive
So we battled our way in the conditions to the Roman Road were it seemed to be easing off a little. Then after a very wet Roman Road we headed up to Drum. Luckily the wind was behind us which helped the ascent.
After a quick refuel at the top it we descended the Eastern side of Drum.
After leaving the summit the clouds broke and 'our visitors' from down south looked in awe at the beatiful scenery which greeted them And they had a bit longer to look at the view after Ken had an off which resulted in some work on a brake lever.
After a swollen river crossing we headed to Eigiau, Coedty and Cowlyd.
Lunch at Eigiau
An extremly large dragon fly munching a bee
PaulW deciding to ride the pipe
Then the awesome track alonside Cowlyd followed by the track to Capel Curig.
We then headed to the Ugly house and made the steep our way up the steep tarmac lane. Once at the top we joined the last bit of the Marin.
Then we had to make our way back to the cars at Sychnant
And I must admit I hit the wall just before Dolgarrog I was totally shot, the slightest incline felt like a 1 in 4!!!
Anyway we got there eventually to finish an EPIC ;D
The route which was 46 mile with 6300ft of ascent
I've just about got the energy to lift my beer
Apologies for the crap quality of the pics, I had to take it with my phone
