was up there today too, didn't see those new parts, dammit! Wish i'd taken a full-facer up there though. There's been alot of work done to the old trails up there too. hopefully if people don't get too ridiculous and keep everything amongs the trees it won't all get flattened again. pretty sure I saw you guys by a car near the castle/campsite entrance by the main road (around 1pm ish ish)? Also, without sounding like a tit, and i don't know how familiar you are with it, but best park behind rhyd y foel and hit it from the back, descretly like

Looks like fun... I reckon a bit of a training session might be popular?

Also, without sounding like a tit, and i don't know how familiar you are with it, but best park behind rhyd y foel and hit it from the back, descretly like No problem To be honest, I've never been there before so had no idea where to park. Was planning on parking in Tescos but they had a time limit, so the main road it was. Not sure where Rhyd Y Foel is, but will make an effort to park there next time Back to the ride though, only stayed for a couple of hours and covered 8 miles, mostly pushing up the trails to suss the features out, session them then do a complete run. Ground was very muddy up there which made for some interesting line selection, especially trying to line up some of the jumps Just need to work on my confidence with some of the drop offs that are there, so may take my full face next time and give them a go. Great fun and only 15 minutes down the road. And to top it off, I finally got to stand in the 'watch tower' that I see everytime I travel down the A55 ;D Not sure who built the track, but if they frequent this site, then thanks for doing so as it must take a fair bit of work to put the runs together. Cheers to Iggy and Smithster for the laughs and I'll post up some pictures as soon as I get chance to download them off my camera

it used to be pretty hardcore years ago with loads of different runs covering the whole mountain front to back. before it all got flattened due to complaints from walkers, as the trails were getting too crazy with jumps going over the roads, then the chavs on motorbikes came up... but yea, i think as long as people don't scare the walkers and keep it in the trees it'll be okay.
if you hit it from the back there's a track up (boulders blocking the entrance, easy to spot from the road in Rhyd y foel), go right to the top and enter the woods. theres a spot where you have two main routes to choose from and then go off on to other tangents. Crater holes, berms, big jumps, the lot. Seems like it's all coming back as it's just been remnants of what was for years/
I'm new to alot it as last time i was up there was when i was a kid. Seen many a broken bones up there! slammed myself in to a tree, well out of practice!
sure there's some vids on youtube from back in the day if you give it a search

That looks very different to when I was up there early on last year. From what I remember the run wasn't very long - only 500m or so - unless I've missed out a huge chunk of it? Will have to go up there and re-investigate. The access from Rhyd-y-Foel is easy to spot, as shown on the attached screenshot from Google maps. Note there are 2 boulders there now though, google is a bit out of date. Attachments:

Anyway, here's my little selection of pictures to add to the collection. Unfortunately not the best of quality due to poor lighting, and to be honest, they just show the same thing as everyone else's photos. But it gives you the general idea of the place I'd be happy to go up there for a days messing around trying to get some decent biking action photo's (had to choose them words very carefully!!) if anybody's interested? I've got a half decent camera, it'll give me the push I need to learn how to use it properly!

Smithy... when you said "Look what's on my doorstep", I thought you meant in Deganwy, not 10+ miles away, or have you moved?
