What a great days riding and according to "My Tracks" on my phone it was 23.5 miles, 5970 feet if elevation gain and 6 hours riding!!! 4 others decided to join me on this toughie of a ride which covered tracks between Moel Arthur and over to the other side of Moel Ethinen with a few cheeky paths thrown in here and there. From bone dry trails to thick mud baths of tracks, grass, fireroads, rooty and rocky tracks the route has it all and at times was bloody hard work, but well worth the effort for the stunning views on offer and the cup of coffee at Moel Famau. I'll post up the photos later tonight, thanks to Trailtrash, Rupert, Sally and Sandi for coming along.

I worked the route out at about 3000 feet Elevation when I was planning it out, so maybe the phone app counted the ups and downs together! Whatever, I'll go with 5970 feet of Elevation as it sounds impressive!! ;D

If it's worked it out off the GPS (rather than a barometer) then it's likely to be a bit over the top Export the GPX (without the altitude) and load it into bikehike or memory map and it should give you a better measurement ;D That route looks like more than 23 miles though...

Yeap, I did the route on bikehike when planning it and it did come out at 3000 feet.

Ah Gus I'm gutted I missed this. All packed up but tyre flat as a pancake. Ended up doing an hour road ride and then gardening. What is the world coming to. Glad you had a good one how ever far you climbed.

Well i'm pooped after that! Great route Gus put together. Lot's of laughs along the way and sun shining most of the day Plenty of walkers, horse riders, and bikes out today enjoying this fine weather. The sheep track back to Moel Arthur was nice n dry for a change, but the clwyds being what they are, we still found plenty of mud. Thanks all for a top day. Sue......missed you today, but at least you got out on the bike

Right! Fed, watered and showered after a (I think) pretty tough route but as said by "Gus the Clwyd Goat" it had it all. Really enjoyed that with top company and NO punctures! Pretty knackered too but feeling quite satisfied knowing we all managed it with or without wind I'll put my pics on as soon as I can be bothered to get off the couch and switch the puter on. No promises on the video footage though
