Thanks to Al for leading and Gus for the extra input. Had a great day out with the above and Carl, Davey and sharon what started of as maybe a trip to the jubilee tower then loggerheads and back was slightly off the mark. 30km and 1000m of climbing and a new route round by clwyd gate back to top carpark was another new one for me and sharon. Weather was fantastic then sun came out on most climbs only one push up which was near vertical to jubilee tower but descent made up for it. NO mechcanicals but a few off's by certain people but not sure if any are on film as he was carrying one of them Totally knackered now and Sharon dead on her feet as not done a ride like that for a while so very proud of her for just getting on with it. Gus and Carl will have a few photos to put up later. Cheers again everybody and be out again soon.

As above! A great ride with some new bits I hadn't done before - thanks to Al and Gus for showing the way. Other than a very Skippy chain which meant I couldn't push hard it was a really enjoyable day. ;D

Thanks to Al and Gus showing us some routes i've not been on and i'm sorry for the burping but it's better out than in i say. Karl and i would like to thank Al for the ice cream , i think that gave me the energy to get up vomit hill......Take care xxx

Looks like you had a great day. Sharon its the burping that helps you get up the hills. Lol I thought it was bottom burping that gives that extra Ommppphhh up the hills, if anything Sharons burping was holding her back by blowing her backwards, yes some of them were that loud!

You ever seen Charlie and the chocolate factory with the drink that when you burp it makes you lighter and you float up into the air. I think Karl puts it in Sharon's camel back. Lol

I wasn't able to attend this ride, but managed to download the route data to my phone and followed it this afternoon. The weather was similar to Saturday, and the views are excellent. Great route with some unexpected turns! I had some difficulty with the road climb back to the upper car park, either it's steeper than it looks or I was out of energy/water (I was a bit dehydrated at the end of the ride yet didn't feel thirsty..) I don't remember there being any significant muddy bits, and also don't recall the stream that's on one of the photos - perhaps I took a slightly different route there.
Following a route on a phone is an annoying experience, having to keep stopping to check I was still on course, and removing gloves to operate the screen etc. It would be much easier with a handle-bar mounted GPS...

Hi Chris O you were not far off but your GPS was a bit zig zaggy? the reason you did not see stream is i bailed and you followed my route back to cilcain the rest of group went back up to vomit hill would have liked to finished the route but time ran out for me

The zig zaggyness is due to the phone GPS being a bit rubbish (or maybe because it was jumping around in my pocket), I think it partly explains the extra distance it reports for my route compared to yours.
