Hehe, yeah - we experienced a few navigational hiccups after we split off. Tip: take a couple of minutes to look at the route the sat-nav has calculated - it took us down to the A541 and then back up Pond Lane. More annoyingly, the navigation app I used to get back home (Waze) took us down the road where we passed you cycling up (completely the wrong direction I have since found out) and then stopped working altogether. Anyway, I thought it was a fun ride - thanks bigoff1

Gutted to have missed this. Maybe if you fancy a day out in the next week or so we could do a repeat.

Looks a good route that. Glad to see that Dutch Woody finally found a hacksaw to cut that chain between his ankle and the desk ;D

Also gutted to have missed this, but I wouldn't have been much good with one eye. Looks a great route al , know most of the lanes as it looks like my winter fitness ride, but don't know the off road sections. Have to do it again sometime. Ps cracking weather for it and good pics

What a ride, Al pulled out all the stops on this one, even the unbelievable mud added to the fun and god was it MUDDY!!! I tried to get under that tree and the rear suspension compressed fully and trapped me, only way off was to painfully push myself backwards off the saddle, squishing my gonads in the process, much to the delighted laughter of the others, the suspension popped up and my nads give a sigh of relief! The route had everything, double tracks, loose rocky wooded sections, great singletrack with nice technical bits. Absolutely brilliant route, some of the wooded sections went deep down into dark chilly valleys, did I mention the mud, boy oh boy!! ;D Really big thanks to Al for a superb day in the saddle, loved every second of it. Looking forward to the next one. Great photos again Carl, they'll be added to my site Sunday. Here's mine.

Thanks Al and all. Definitely a classic, and well worth the drive. Nina doesn't believe how tired I am, and is trying to make me do chores, please can someone convince her ;D John

Feeling tried myself, it didn't help me not being able to use the granny gear on all that off road climbing for about 6-7 miles, stuck in the middle chainring climbing up steep muddy tracks was well hard, the water after the last off road climb helped clear the gears a bit though and I managed to get into the granny for the really steep part of the last climb.
Going to head up to Halkyn a little later with Jake for a gentle ride. It's all I can muster up.
Still buzzing from the ride though, really good stuff and one I'll be doing again.
