Once up and ready, Saturday saw us make our way into town for some breakfast, which for a decent sized town you think would be easy. Well think again !
We finally managed to grab a bite to eat before making our way via the (not quite so easy to find) cyclepath to Innerleithen for a crack at Minch Moor.
After the long and neverending climb we soon found ourselves at the top and ready for some more fun. And fun it was as we all flew down the Minch Moor descent towards Caddon Bank. Once there, we stopped to let the newbies have a look at what they were letting themselves in for and then proceeded to fly down the trail with big grins plastered over our faces. Especially Gareth as he cleared all three jumps for the first time, and also with style too as he literally flew over the second and third drops. So much so that he nearly cleared jumps 2 & 3 with a single jump
Then it was down the remainder of Caddon Bank with it's swooping drops, big berms and various drop offs all the way down. I've said it before and I'll say it again, that descent is the best descent I've ever ridden and is a must for everyone out there interested in biking
Once we'd all got our breath back, we made our way back to the cyclepath and to Glentress where we had some dinner at the visitor's centre.
Then it was another crack at the Red route, which this time we hit that little bit harder and quicker due to the fact we were familiar with it. However, en route we stopped for some more playing on the play park where Gareth and Simon were trying to out-do each other on the big jumps. Eventually, Gareth won the 'Chuckle Brother Challenge' with a jump off the middle one of the three drops. A jump he hit so fast he let out a whimper in mid air Once he'd managed to stop at the bottom, it took him a good half hour to stop shaking
Then it was back onto the cyclepath for the short journey back to the digs for sorting ourselves out ready for another trip into town for beers and scoff
