Over the (so called) summer a number of us have been getting out on a Thursday evening alternating between The Clwyds and llandegla. Well, it's just occurred to me that we've not put any write ups on the forum about these rides, mainly because we're having too much fun to stop and take pictures
These rides have been attended from anywhere between 4 and 11 people, all of different ability and experience. The one thing we all have in common is the fact that we all ride as a group and never leave anyone behind or riding on their own. The pace of these rides are that of the slowest rider, regardless of who that may be. When riding around llandegla we always wait at the end of each section to ensure we're all still together and no-one has had a mishap of any sorts.
When riding The Clwyds the route is decided on the night depending on the weather and wind direction, but usually consists of a 15 mile loop which takes about 2.5 hours to do. These rides are relaxed and anyone with knowledge of the area can suggest the route as everyone else is just happy to be out riding.
Last Thursday's ride saw 9 of us turn up for a jaunt around The Clwyds in pretty decent weather. The route was my suggestion and I thought we'd do our 'normal' Thursday route in reverse. This meant going up all the usual downhills and down the climbs. Needless to say it wasn't the most popular route I've ever suggested and will probably be the last time we go that way.
The weather was kind to us, as was the terrain as it was all dry and running really well. The only issue we had was the fading light at 8.45ish as we were still on our way tot he summit of Moel Fammau at the time. Let's just say the descent down The Jubilee Path was interesting as it was near pitch black and we had two lights between the nine of us
For once I even took some pictures, so if you like what you see, get your name down for the next evening ride which should be in a couple of weeks as we're not riding next Thursday due to the bank holiday weekend.
And don't forget to bring some lights.......
