Looking forward to getting up to the marin on friday, I've not been in a while. They haven't totally sanitised the last descents have they??

Yeah it seems pretty nice, the berms are pretty fun and i really liked the little rock steps on the second section, however that little drop into that tree stump was a bit of an eye opener! Especially given that I came in pretty hot, not expecting it to be there! Just rode straight over it, others might not be so lucky though...

Went for a nice pootle around tonight (short cutted past nant bh) Trails were damp but not wet enough to get soaked. The new bits seem to get better each time I ride them, even the little kerbs are now fun The main climb at the start has gone muddy and potholed, as have some of the other fire roads At the moment there's also a diversion before the final long climb, hopefully some repairs to the narrow section that's worn away

Did a slow lap on the Marin today, and flat out on the Dragons Tail, I caught up witha couple of pretend fell runners, who ran all the way round the Marin. Where do we and the Forest Commission/ Menter Machno (for the penmachno trail) stand regards an accident on a mountain bike trail. Are pedestrians allowed on these trails or merely discouraged. It's rather maddening considering the amount of footpaths and fire road available to these charecters, that they would still rather clog up a designated mountain bike trail.

one for Andy to answer I think. they've put some no walking signs up on some sections recently, but generally I think you can walk anywhere in the forest.

Does the Marin still have the signs up for bikers give way to horses and walkers? Crazy signs, should be the other way round shouldn't it!

Think its a case of give and take, On one hand youe have bikers taking up the whole of footpaths with no consideration for walkers, And on the other, walkers with dogs on mtb trails, with no intention of moving,

Does anyone know if you can take a short cut from the beginning of the Marin trail to just do the final decents?
Cheers

Does anyone know if you can take a short cut from the beginning of the Marin trail to just do the final decents? Cheers Not quite cutting out all the first climb but you can do the little loop. If you look at the map you'll see the return leg cuts across the first climb meaning you don't have yo work too hard to get the final descents.

Me and the boy often do the first ascent and first two descents then instead of going past the mine climb back up a level, may require a push as footpath also ickle bit steep, like to make any walkers I meet feel that I am being good. Then hit the fire road go right, back towards lake. a short stiff climb following the Marin route, then at x-roads left again bring you back to start of first descents, where the bench is, past that back to the start of the three final descents. Quite nice loop of lots of down without it being a long day out. His excuse is he is nine mine is I am fat and slow.

Detour now in place, just after bridge where you have to bike carry. Also Marin is closed on Sat 19th Oct.

Trail all clear now, except for one tree, about half way round.
