Following on from Mark's thread, venues have now been added to the dates So if you're looking for something to do over the winter to keep your fitness up, or just want something to get out of bed for, then why not give it a go. There's no need to go and buy a cyclocross bike to take part as lots of people do them on mountain bikes, and not just light weight XC bikes either, one lad takes part on an orange 5 !!! The first race is at the end of September, so plenty of time to get some practice in if you're that way inclined Anyway, here are the venues and here's the thread from the 2012 / 2013 series. Round 1 Sept 22nd. 2013 Bangor Area Round 2 October 13th St Asaph Park Round 3 October 27th Prestatyn Round 4 November 10th Holyhead Round 5 November 24rd Northorp Horticultural College Round 6 December 1st Lead Mines Wrexham Round 7 December 15th Prestatyn Round 8 December 29th Bodelwyddan Castle Round 9 January 12th 2014 Bethesda Sports Centre Round 10 January 26th Bangor Area Round 11 February 9th Alyn Waters Round 12 February 23rd Prize Presentation.. Bethesda Sports Centre

Below is one of the posters advretising the dates and venues.

Well that was a blast. Cant see myself troubling the leader board but really enjoyed that I'm glad someone enjoyed it You should have come over and said 'Hi' Chris, was Greg riding too ? 'Twas a toughie today, or as Mark said afterwards "That was an hour of Hell" I'm having issues with my laptop at the moment, think I have a virus which has locked it up When it's sorted I'll do a report and get some pictures up.

Right then, computer is now sorted and I can access the pictures that Karl took for me Well as you have probably guessed, last Sunday saw the second round of the North Wales Cyclo Cross Series for this winter. Held on a pan flat course in St. Asaph, this tough yet enjoyable course had a bit of everything except hills, which meant that it was very 'pedally' with very little respite or chance to rest. The lap contained a couple of sections through a shrubbed area, a couple of singletrack sections and four big logs that you had to jump over, but was mainly on a field. Each lap was approximately 0.8 miles long and the idea is to do as many as you can in an hour. In total there were about 50 riders including five MBNW members racing for their various clubs, Simon & Mark Price (Alf Jones Cycles), Myself & Megan Woodward (MBNW) and Seismic (CBMDC) on his trusty hardtail. I won't go into the race details as there's not a lot to report really. We all went round in circles for an hour trying not to let Simon Price lap us too many times However, we all succumbed in the end and I think Simon had great pleasure in lapping Mark I'm not 100% sure of the finishing places as they put the under 16s into their own catagory, although they race with the adults. What I do know is that Simon was the first of us lot home, followed by Mark and myself. Seismic and Megan came home not far behind but I don't know who cme in first (not that it really matters). Good to see plenty of support on the way round from the likes of Karl and Sharon, also good to see Al out there willing people on. Finally, thanks to Karl for taking my camera and getting some pictures of the action. The next one is a week on Sunday in Prestatyn, so if you fancy something different, or want to get fit over the winter, why not give it a go ?

I have seen the results and they dont make pleasant reading for me. But a really good event. Not about to go and spend money on a cyclocros bike but will try and do some more of these this year. Didnt come last and beat some people on proper bikes so a bonus. And thanks Carl/ Tarbo for selecting those pics, were the others even worse? Especially like the one of me hauling the old bike over followed by my Mark leaping like a gazelle with his.
