I'm looking at getting a set of 29er MTB wheels for my Lefty. The choice is overwhelming but I think I've narrowed it down to Mavic Crossmark ST 29ers or the Stans Flow with Hope hubs. Does anyone have any experience of either as I can't make my mind up. Cheers

Ive not tried either of these in the 29 format, but have run hope and flows in 26 for the past 3 years, they are a good strong all mountain wheels. Im currently running mavic crossrides on my 29 which are also pretty tuff, but am also thinking of a more XC set for competition, I will be buying hope crest for this without thought and here is the reason why. Mavic make some great looking / performing wheels the problem is that if you break them i.e. Spoke, bearings you can be waiting weeks for a replacement, took me 4 weeks for a spoke on some Akasium race wheels. Hope on the other hand use standard parts that you can get next day, they dont look as flashy but they just work, they may also be a bit more expensive but thats because they last. The other good thing with hope stuff is its easy to work on, you hit it with a hammer, I reckon if you hit a mavic hub with a hammer it would be like a explosion in a spring factory

From experiance i prefer hope wheel sets for as Dan said durability and ease of getting parts but if its a light xc set up then then crest rims not the flow although you need to go easy of crests. Straight pull spokes are apparently worth paying the extra for when using 29er wheels as they allow the spoke tension to be higher
