What are the best pedals for a 9 year old doing xc? I have looked at flats but I'm concerned about the grub screws ripping into his legs if he slips.

Jakes 11 and rides flats and has got a couple of puncture wounds but quickly learnt to stay on and avoid the screws. Superstar components pedals are fab

My son who is 10 rides clip in. main problem is getting shoes to fit. he is still circa 35/ 36 so takes some finding on e-bay to get some. managaed to get some Bontgrager off ebay for 25 quid and has the cheap shimano clip in pdals I think 16 quid e-bay. If your lad has bigger feet easy to get shoes. Alternatively might have a pair of flat metal dmr type pedals I could pass your way. Think they are red well worn and on my pub bike.
