As Tarbo mentioned, I've also been out more on the road than on the trails/mountains this year. I've been entering a few sportives throughout the year. Highlights for me were the Inners trip I organised early on in the year, and doing my first 100+miler on the Cheshire Cat. 2014 has me entering 10+ sportives, but I've a hankering on getting a trip to Kiroughtree/ Dalbeattie organised early summer, before the midges appear! Blwydyn newydd dda!

Considering how long last winter lasted there have been quite a few.
In no particular order
Losing my Lakes cherry in May and going again in October when sun cream was still needed Weekends in Mid Wales in the sun Riding dickos and World Cup descent in the dry and on a full bouncer (just wish I had bigger b0ll0cks) A night ride around the Clwyds when the ground was frozen solid Halkyn Mountain ride in the snow Cadair Idris with the pub crawl back to cars at the end
Biggest highlight was having a proper summer. Being able to sit outside tents at end of the ride socialising makes such a difference.

oh well first is going to the Alps, with the family, Sue and Jake. I know the welsh mountains are lovely but the Alps just blew us all away. Seeing Karl do the Dyfi again and look not to bad after it(well done my love). Megan winning 2 trophies for her mtb racing. The summer got us out quite a bit as a family and that was the best. Lets hope the weather gods are good to us for next year. To all of you, i wish you a Happy New Year and enjoy your biking (either mtb or road) xxxx

The biking highlights for me start with training for and completing my first triathlon in May. So only a third of it was biking, but the training really helped my fitness and I was happy to be healthy enough to do the training. It was motivation to get out over the winter months, too. I may even try and do it again this year. Quickly following on from the triathlon was a weeks MTBing in Finale Ligura, Italy. A brilliant week of coastal singletrack, technical descents, a few offs and as much Italian food as I could fit in! On the darkside, a holiday on Skye in August gave me the chance to complete my first long sportive, 96 miles around 2/3rds of the island. Surprisingly good roads, amazing scenery, friendly locals and different types of cake at each of the three food stations Also did a loop around the Applecross peninsula, including the Bealach na Ba pass. Only 60 miles, but felt much harder than the sportive. As an extra, I was fortunate to get a new bike . Really enjoyed riding it, until an unscheduled OTB left me with broken ribs It was the most painful injury I've ever had!! So, hoping to stay healthy and uninjured in 2014, and just carry on enjoying my riding. Maybe, I'll pop my 100-mile cherry, and a Clwyds end to end sounds good, too

I really enjoyed cycling around Ireland this year, but my highlight would have to be the Dyfi Enduro. I had been meaning to do it for years and it really did live up to expectations! Pure bonkers event and I feel like I really earned the free beer at the finishing line. Must go again next year.

Choosing one highlight is actually pretty difficult, but I can manage a top 5 (in no particular order)
1) Some great evening rides over the summer, including the ones organised by Monster and Dan B. Descending from the top of Moel Fferna at sunset on dry dusty trails to end at the pub was pretty special. Equally special was a solo evening roadie I did from Bala over to Lake Vrnwy dam and back over Bwlch Y Groes. 2) New bike... nuff said 3) MTB holiday in Italy 4) Iggy's lakes weekend 5) Riding the roadie over Bealach Na Ba to Applecross in the highlands

My biggest regret of the year is not being as involved with the MBNW community as I have been in the past. Work, injuries and other commitments mean I just haven't had time. In terms of achievements this year, I've got a couple but the highlights are running a total of 80km in November - those that know me will know I HATE running - including a PB 10km of 51:04 ( with 175m of ascent), and cleaning the climb up Moel Famau on the bike. I thought I'd fluked it so went back and did it again a week later. Goals for next year? Aim to drop another 15kg while getting fitter and stronger, and shake off this knee injury!
