Hi all,
Just thought I'd introduce myself. My name's Dave and I'm from the Holywell area, Trelogan specifically. Just ordered myself a hard tail mountain bike, as I've been riding a CX / road bike for the last year and fancied giving some off road riding a try. I'm very new to mountain biking so I'm not 100% sure of exactly what kind of riding is it I'm after, I guess I'd just like to try the local trails and routes local to me, and also at some point, ride Llandegla, Hiraethog, Coed Y Brenin etc Hope to speak soon and maybe join in some of the planned rides.
Thanks
*edit*
Just thought I'd add a little more about my first foray in to MTB. I checked out the Voodoo Bizango at Halfords due to all the awards it's won, and to be honest, I really wasn't that impressed. Maybe it's because I'm coming from a CX bike, but it felt like it was built from scaffolding poles. Very big, very heavy and the 29" wheels put me off. Then I headed to Life on Wheels in Holywell as they're my LBS. Tried out a few bikes including the Ghost Tacana's and Kato's (again, not over struck). Then I tried a couple of KTM Ultra Fires (17" and 19") and they were a different kettle of fish! Loved the 19" with 27.5" wheels so decided to order that one. Can't wait to try it out off road. My CX bike, Ridley XBow is now running continental GP4000 slicks and a pannier rack, so pretty much dedicated to touring and commuting on tarmac.

Hi Dave, welcome to the forum. There's plenty of us near to you and there's plenty trails you can make up from the numerous bridle paths and lesser used other paths around you. Then there's the Clwyds to consider as well as Halkyn mountain too. Get yourself along on one of the rides and you'll be made welcome.

Cheers! I've taken a look at a few of the rides and they look a bit monstrous if I'm honest. Think I need to get used to the bike on smaller / easier rides first.

Welcome to the forum I'm also just down the road from you, as are quite a few people on the forum. As Dave has said, keep an eye on the 'Plan Your Rides' section of the forum, and if anything takes your fancy pp along and join in. If you're a bit unsure about the pace of he ride, just ask. Everyone on here is friendly and you'll get a sensible answer. There's a ride over Llandegla way this Saturday if you're interested. Nice social pace wih plenty of bail points and short cuts if it gets a bit too much. Hopefully see you out soon

Hey! Thanks for the offer, but still waiting for the bike. It's ordered but not in my grubby little mitts yet.
