Hello! So after a mate of mine got himself a new bike, we decided to go for a ride and I took my old (~15 year old) Carrera out around Moel Famau after I recovered it from 6 years worth of cobwebs! It nearly killed me. 4 working gears, brakes that squealed with the slightest of touch and didn't really give much confidence of stopping me, handle bars that decided to point in a different direction when they felt like it.. man it was hard work. Didn't half give me that smile on my face though, being out in the open air back on the bike.
So I've sold it.
Well, traded it in. I've taken advantage of the Cycle to Work scheme and bought myself a new bike, a 13 Incline Beta from Halfords, which will give me confidence that it won't fall apart (hopefully). Ok it's not a top end MTB, but I haven't been out in the saddle for a long time so couldn't justify a massive outlay, but I'm happy with it. Only picked it up on the weekend. Will be taking it to explore the trails around Gwrych Castle in Abergele after work tonight for it's first test.
I'm going to Plans will be to get out a few times a month for a decent trail around North Wales, and hopefully once a week more locally.
