I've fancied this for a while, but after some on-again-off-again "planning", I ended up doing it on my own. It's hard! It's pretty much all rideable, but it is about the limit of what I can do. I'm sure that I could take any 100 yard section and ride it OK, but there's not 100 yards - there's about 10 miles of it. The tarmac climb out from Cowlyd almost came as a relief! The weather helped - it was a beautiful day without being too hot. I was absolutely goosed when I got back to the car. I met quite a few walkers around Capel Curig. Most were cheerfull ("Yes, I know they are big tyres" ). The other two would probably have been miserable whatever they were doing. I took some piccies: Llyn Crafnant The view from the top (and the only smooth bit of track this side of the mountain!) I thought this was the old A5, but I think it pre-dates it. Roman? Tryfan Scenery with a bike in it Scenery without a bike (Llyn Cowlyd) Water coming from Llyn Eigiau in the next valley via a tunnel under the mountain. Bloody good, those Victorians. The Cowlyd Dam Pipeline feeding the hydro station at Dinorwic Yeah, it's a picture of a bike. Deal with it It is a cracking route, but punishing (I think). I would definitely do it again - but not too soon.
