So for those who have skinny tyres today was Global fat bike day so those with the fatter tyres meet up and ride where normal bikes only dream of . Friday night we decided to camp on Newborough beach or rather the forest there. Plenty of drinks followed by a amazing fire and a cracking nights sleep on the soft ground. I awoke to cries from Jeff (summittoppler) to get the hell out of bed and shift my a**e. I crawled out of the tent feeling like death warmed up but soon came around with the view on this beautiful day. WE rode back to the car park and meet up with a few more fatties and went for a a mile spin on this amazing welsh coast line. What a amazing day and a massive thanks to Jeff for organizing it. A short video of the day.

Jeff - you've gone from 70 miles to 1 mile in a week and you say go fat!! If we had a load of snow every year going fat would make sense but we don't so what's the point besides wanting to stand out from the crowd and be different?

Have you ever rode a fat bike? 70 miles to 1 mile in a week? Are you for real? That ride I done on Saturday was 16 of the best riding you could do on a bike in North wales (IMO). Have you rode on the beach and watched the sea birds, hear the waves (from yer bivvy) lapping as the tide comes in, and whats with the comment of 'standing out from the crowd'? Get a grip sunshine, bikes are bikes, you should know, you ride a Brompton And if you look back over the last 3 years and reckon having a fat bike is to 'stand out from the crowd' you better think again..... or head over to the Singletrack forum goodbye

I genuinely don't get the fat bike (must be because I'm square) and don't see any advantage in getting a heavier bike without an upside from what I can see. I try to avoid riding on a beach (more because sand and salt water are no good for bikes) and you can camp (which I do get) without a fat bike. I use the Brompton for around town like it was designed for and if I lived somewhere where there was lots of snow I'd probably invest in a fat bike like they were designed for. After all I don't wear snow shoes when there's no snow
