When I put my slicks on, the front one sits funny in one place. The photo below shows it. It seems to sit lower than the rest of the tyre in the rim. I've removed the tyre and replaced it but it still does it. Is this okay? I wouldn't have thought so. Should I take it back to my lbs?

What i tend to do when replacing a tyre is inflate it until its pumped up but soft and then go round it bending the tyre from side to side on the rim to seat it and then just give it a gentle bump on the ground while turning it round, doe's that make sense? Once Ive done that I pump it up to the required PSI If you don't get any joy with that It could be a fault with the tyre. Can't see on the pic but does it bulge out round where the valve is?

Also, are your inner tubes the right size for 1.50 tyres?
Tubes will have their range printed on the side.

Martin - Yes I did go round pulling on the tyre to try and seat it properly, and the bumping, but no joy. It doesn't bulge round by the valve either. Sikora - Yeh I've got narrower 1.25-1.75 tubes for the slicks. I've got the wider tubes for the knobblies...and no, I haven't got 'em mixed up ;D ;D

Got this one sorted...eventually Took it to my LBS today and they put SOAP on the rim and bead. Good tip if ever you get the same problem. And before I get the question, I'll give ya the answer...I dunno if it was Imperial Leather or Palmolive ;D ;D

was it propper rim soap or just normal stuff from the kitchen sink?
The kitchen stuff needs a really good rinse off 'cos it will affect your ally rims if you dont.

The LBS did it for me while I waited (gave me a chance to look round the bling). There wasn't any residue left when they gave it back so i guess they musta wiped it off. Never heard of rim soap!
