I haven't, but i would like to. Not an option at the moment because i've not had my current ride that long, but this is something i will be looking at doing in perhaps two years' time. I've got a good idea on how to choose components but it will be physically putting the bike together where it will all go wrong!  Anyone ever built their own ride? |

Yeh ive built a few over the years, it helped that i used to work in a bike shop. Theres nothing to it really, the only bit that i would be careful with is fitting the headset cups but it easy really (I used to use a block of wood and a mallet and never had any probs).
Give me a shout if you need to know how to do anything.

After having My first Rockhopper about a year I stripped that down and rebuilt it with everything changed, the only thing I didn't do was the new headset. At the time I had bought new forks so the shop did the new headset and forks at the same time.
I learned such a lot while doing it, to be honest its all common sense and its not something to rush. Every penny i earned in my after school job went into it so i couldn't afford to get it wrong.
What a sense of achievement though

Give me a shout if you need to know how to do anything. I think you'll find you'll be getting a couple of questions I've built pretty much everything I've ridden for the past 15 years and have most tools you'll need for a build. Give me a shout if you need any help as I'm just round the corner from you. |
