I always find this really handy when planning routes to get some idea of the type of land you're tackling. go here... maps.live.com/When the map loads click on the 3D tab and install the 3D software, then when it's installed click on the aerial tab. you'll then get a 3D photographic view of the landscape. You can hold ctrl and move the mouse to change the pitch and you can also hold shift and move the mouse to move around a viewpoint. I'm acutually in the middle of writing a web based vehicle tracking and route planning application using this virtual earth technology. It uses a gps reciever and celular transmitter to relay co-ordinates. You can also plan offroad routes using it, may be usefull for biking?

Brilliant innit, I downloaded the 3D version the other day.
The only thing was with it I couldnt save the pic I was looking at and mark out trails on it.
Unless someone knows how to do it?

Press the "print screen" button on your keyboard, this will copy the screen to your clipboard, you can then paste into whole thing into another application (photoshop/word/etc).
