Missymaverick and myself have just come back from a few days Mountain biking in the Dales and dalby.
We stayed in a cottage up in the Dales for a couple of days right on the doorstep of some cracking trails taking you in all directions on the Dales.
We did a route on Monday courtesy of the Muddybums website
www.muddybums.org.uk/Route_YD21.asp
This is the map.
Out of the front door of the cottage this was where we heading for.
The route was pretty exposed up there, most of it was XC type farm roads and gravel Bridleways but none the less was slog and some fantastic views
We didn't get many pics because about 15k's into the ride the weather came in from nowhere and got really crap, rain and fog so we had to do a quick map check and detour down of the moors and come up with a route back towards the shelter of the lower lands. Was a shame we had to cut it short but there will be other chances.
From there we headed up to dalby forest. I was looking forward to bagging this one having not ridden there before.
Fookin £7 to park there
We did the red route with some black thrown in. The red is a long old slog and towards the end i was loosing the will to live and just wanted to finish and go home ;D. The red is a proper XC type route and not demanding at all, I'm glad we threw in some black to spice it up a little.
We came across the freeride park there which I had to have a blast on.
Some pics of it.
The pics don't really do it justice, you cant see the gradients very well. I was a laugh. There is also some cracking northshore and boardwalk sections.
Some pics from the Dalby trip.
It was a good day and pretty nackering, I'm glad I went over and experienced it but i wouldn't drive all the way from Wales to ride the trails there again.
