Man that was one tough race! The course was mega and started with a warm up on the tarmac followed by an eye-popping fireroad climb onto some great natural muddy, rooty trails followed by the Gorlech (red) and Raven (black) routes. They even took us all down the extreme graded bikepark section which has the biggest tabletop jumps you've ever seen and the infamous Williat drop. Saw Markyp and his mate at the start and also at the feed station out on the course, well done lads. Had a bit of a three way dice for the lead on a few occasions with Matt the Wiggle rider and the bloke that beat me at the Llanwrtyd Merida before I blew up about 2.5hrs in. Ended up finishing in fourth about 10mins behind Matt which I'm really pleased with (even if it has confirmed my suspicions about my lack of out and out endurance). Jus had a cracking ride coming in around 10th!!!! Not bad for an old boy. ;D Total distance came in at 48k with over 1400metres of climbing. Next one is thankfully a little closer to home.

(even if it has confirmed my suspicions about my lack of out and out endurance). Some big days out on the road coming up over the winter?

As for endurance, do ya fancy doing a mega long mtb ride next weekend I could be tempted but I've only got until 1pm Sat to play with. Got a trip down to Banbury to see some of the Mrs family Sat evening. Endurance training is best incorporated into a program using periodisation anyway, that means a whole winter of cold, wet slogs to build the aerobic fitness unfortunately. (either that or uber long soul-destroying trainer sessions in the house)

Finally starting to get the hang of this GPS malarkey now as well, should be able to retrace the route next time we're down there for a big bike epic.
