Wow. Effin great scenery. Is it quite technical there or is it as hard as you make it?

It's as hard as you want it to be although I wouldnt recommend it to complete beginners. If you can confidently ride red trails at trail centers then you'll be happy on the easier trails there.

Always fancied going there but always been worried about how much it costs, how much do you reckon you could get it for Doug. Also would you recommend taking a full on DH bike out or would standard trail bikes cope with most stuff PS. Cracking pics

A 6" or 7" single crown bike is best for Les Arcs. There are sections of most trails that would be better suited to DH bikes but these are outnumbered by tight switchbacks and trails where a more nimble bike shines. Check out the video's to see what I mean.
Last year cost us £400 split four ways for the apartment for 8 nights (Sat - Sun), £250 for fuel (V6), ferry (£41 return with speedferries) and £60 tolls all split two ways as we took two cars, £50 for a weeks lift pass plus I spent about £200 on food and beer (50/50 eat out and SC) which adds up to £525. If I was going this year I'd budget for £650 with the extra petrol cost and current exchange rates. We drove down overnight on the Friday and set off back at 10:00am on the Sunday morning getting home about 4am Monday morning. This gave us 7 days riding with a rest day which we spent sightseeing and doing a high ropes course the day before we came home. We didn't need a guide as I've been before and have the area mapped pretty comprehensively.
I prefer to drive I enjoy it and see it as part of the holiday. I don't have to trust my bike to the baggage monkeys and can take as many tools and spares as I like and can also stock up on cheap spirits on the way back and you can go off for a day in another area if you wanted to.
I've read an excellent blog from couple of lads who did a summer road trip in a Transit Van with a mattress in the back which is the ultimate budget option.
We also deliberately timed our trip to coincide with the tour rolling through which made for some good entertainment whilst enjoying a few scoops.

Sounds like a trip that Doug, not a bad price to pay for a quality week of riding. I would like to get a larger travel bike before i went out to somwhere like that. Definatly somthing im going to look in to in the future, looks quality
