Hi …
My daughter and I are coming down from Edinburgh to Wales for a couple of weeks of biking. Any suggestions gratefully received. The accomodation I have booked is the only definite part of our plan. Everything else is open to change and will depend on the weather, our mood and stamina. I suspect I’ll be exhausted before she is!
Our rough plan is:
We are arrive in Llanferres on the evening of the 6th July and will spend a couple of days here to ride at Coed Llandegla and Clwyds – probably the Cilcain Circuit ( from the Flattyres website)
We move on to Betws y Coed on the 9th – maybe stopping at Hiraethog or just going straight to Betws y Coed to ride the Marin and Penmachno trails.
After that it’s on to Machynlleth on the 11th, stopping to ride Coed y Brenin on the way. We’ll ride the Mach 2 or 3 or Cli-machx on the 12th and then drive down to Nant yr Arian on the 13th to ride the Summit and Pendam on the 13th … we leave Machynlleth and head south to Brechfa and Afan on the 14th July.
Charlotte and I ride at the Seven Stanes Centres a fair bit – mostly Glentress. She is 11½ years old and copes well with Red graded routes. She loves Spooky Wood and Super G! The Newcastleton Red is another favourite. She can manage 20+ miles in a day of off-roading. We would welcome some company and guidance if anyone is out and about – especially a parent and child combination!
She’s always disappointed at the number of girls her age riding in Scotland … there are lots of wee boys riding at the different Stanes but few girls. Is it different in Wales, I wonder.
Seeyah ..!?
