Blimey, that was the hardest 50k ride I've ever done. I can hardly walk now, might have to take the rest of the week off work Congratulations though Dan for coming second!

Yep good ride all round and extremely muddy at times. First Merida and was impressed with the set up and atmosphere - really enjoyable. Shame it wasn't quite 50km though. Most I spoke with measured it around 38-40km so the end suddenly came as a bit of a shock And yes, congrats to Dan in finishing second in the 50k

I'm wondering: the refreshment stands went down from 2 to 1, there was a LOT of tarmac and not much decent singletrack and the distance and climbing was short - did they have to cut a chunk out of the route last minute?
Maybe a farmer had second thoughts seeing as it's never been held in that place before.

If you look at the original course profile www.mtb-marathon.co.uk/events/2009_course_llanwrtyd.pdf The filling station was at 24km according to the people staffing it. If I remember it was bit of a climb following that which does not seem to tie in with the profile?? Oh well - it was enjoyable anyway ;D ;D

Woohoo! ;D How much did I enjoy that! That was one seriously oddball course, we were getting to sections and just riding through the undergrowth following the arrows. Think they must've cut something out because both the guys I was riding with showed 40k on their computers, a bit crap really if you've spent the first hour pacing yourself ready for a late push. Nightmare for Jus who's rear mech got a mangling in the melee at the start and then went on to jam his rear wheel on the tarmac. Cue lots of gravel rash and bike damage. Nightmare!!!! Good show from Oggy as well I think, not a bad time for him. (it helps if he has a man's bottie in front to chase) Well done to everyone who finished anyway. EDIT: They were assembling the feed station as I passed through so I don't think it was in the right place, seemed very close to the end (but then so did the start).

Well done everyone for a fantastic day out, A good craic as they say, Well done too Dan, Flying as usual Its a shame about the route shortening as the 65k route on the map really did look 65k compared to ours Anyway Selkirk next. See you all soon ;D

Quality day lads, well done to everyone especaially dan for coming second. Great to see loads of team mbnw names on the sign on list and all of us were back well up the field. Like Dan said it was a bit of an oddball coarse and i reckon it was really cut up even before any riders had gone through, some really wet sections but i loved the rock section towards the end. Dead chuft with my time
