After reading an article in the latest MBUK, does anyone have a trail / loop on your doorstep (ie, no car involved). I have been trying to piece a loop together around Mold but an really struggling.

Living in Ffestiniog i have quite a few between the one and two hour riding times.
There is one thats about 15km long with around 450m of climbing, but it has excellent views, uses a lot of bridlepaths and goes along quarry tracks.
I don't know if you have heard of Coed y Garnedd - it's a ride included in the bikefax book, but I can cycle on mostly minor roads to that woodland - takes about half an hour to get there.

I have some cracking doorstep trails in the hills behind my house, 20 Min ride and Im up there. Really lucky to be honest. It all helps if you know the area, that way you can make it all up as you go along.
Its even good If i only have an hour for a ride, even in that time you can get a lot in.

I,ve been struggling to find a descent loop from my doorstep, Nant y Glyn valley is the starting point but not sure if its legal. i.e footpaths or bridalway. Get loads of ramblers going up so maybe I should just go for it just to annoy them. . It would be good to get together and find some alternative rides other than the obvious ones such as marin etc.

It's a bit wild towards the bottom. Also coming down to nant y glyn there's honeysuccle lane from colwyn heights which is a proper bridle path, although watch out for the horse s**t.! I'd be happy to join for a get together around here to find some more routes.

I'm literally halfway up one of the mountains on the Clwydian range, so i can head out of the gate and up the mountain. I've got my little loop that i do occasionally, but i could do with making it a bit longer now my fitness has improved. just need to get up there with my OS map one day

Hmm nah not aware of that, I used to live in the heights so I know Honeysuckle lane and often ridden the lanes around Bryn Y Maen, some of the paths marked onmy map seem to no longer exsist, I ended up in the middle of a field somewhere between llanelian & Bryn Y Maen. Lets get something sorted, I may be free tomorrow evening!

My wife use to horseride so she has an idea where you can go. Sorry can't make it tomorrow, may be free on Thursday evening. Where abouts in Colwyn Bay do you live, I live up in the heights and often do a loop up to Bryn y Maen (or honeysuccle), down Nant y Glyn, Along the old Highway and back up Pen y Bryn Road ( the hard bit). Takes me about half an hour.

I use the orme as my local trail, loads of little routes to do, been doing a right sketchy little path that runs down the side of the orme near the zig zag path on the west shore, if ya lay a wrong move on it ya tumbleing a fair way ;D

4 miles riding up the road and i can hit Clocaenog Forest and start the 'Up To The Lake' for a nice stroll up to Llyn Brenig and cutting some section out to get home would make it about 36km something i should look at.

It would be good to meet up, I'm sure we will on the Forum ride but always looking for new riding buddies I will activate my email on my profile so drop me a line in case I miss a thread.
