Rode the Penmachno loop 1 for the first time this week and wished i had had time to do loop 2 as well - great route.
I am sure that those familiar with it will know what is coming - for the first timer it helps to know if there is a sting round the next corner. The sections of fire road are not difficult anywhere and the early sections of single track are no problem including the loop around through the felled area. After that the tricky sections begin to get more interesting until the last run back to the cars where I just hoped things were going to work. They did but as I am a pensioner perhaps more cautious than those half my age.
Orange sections on the attached made me think. Green is easy, level single track and blue easy downhill.
Those orange bits are the best bits ;D I know what you mean though, if you're not expecting it then it could be a bit of a shock if you hit it too fast. Maybe FC will give them some skull and crossed bones signs to put up, like they've done at Coed y Brenin and the Marin, although these highly dangerous ;D sections never used to have any signs highlighting them
Cheers Rupert, I'm stopping up that way for a couple of days with my mates, there walkers tho so are doing snowdon and so on, so was going to have a look around and do penmachno and Marin cowlyns killer loop over a couple of days. Would you reccomend anywhere else to have a look at while I'm up there. Cheers adam
