Got talked into doing the sleepless in the saddle this weekend, just wondering if anyone else is doing it. Starts at 2pm on Saturday and runs through til 2pm on sunday. Why I agreed to it, I don't know If nothing else, it should be a challenge !!!

Fair play mate, that's going to be a real test of endurance. You doing it as part of a team or solo nutter style? ;D I find it hard to understand how they can do it, I'm usually spent after three hours never mind 24.

Sounds like a laugh although I'm definitely not doing it this year. There's load of messages on singletrackworld saying the course surface was appalling last year I know someone who was at Mountain Mayhem this year and their team went out and did a couple of laps, slept most of the day then went out for a couple more near the end!

I know someone who was at Mountain Mayhem this year and their team went out and did a couple of laps, slept most of the day then went out for a couple more near the end! Sounds like a plan ;D Doing it as a team of four, not one of us under 40 years old, so no chance of coming in the top half. But as long as we know that before we start, there won't be an issue. I did think along the same lines as Oggy, in that it would be worth putting in an MBNW team. I'll let you know what it's like next week ! BTW, a big thanks to Gazooks for letting me borrow his Hope 4 Vision lights, I think they're worth more than my bike..... ;D

Well that was an experience And a good one at that Got there Friday afternoon, pitched the tents and done a recce lap. Muddy as f**k !! Then we went to the local pub for some food and drinks. Anyway, the 'race' started at 2pm on Saturday with a 'Le Mans' style start, a 800 meter run to the bikes, then an 8 mile circuit over fields, through woods and around an equestrian course. Each lap took between 48 minutes to 56 minutes (at 3:40 in the morning ). This went on until 2pm on the Sunday !! It was a team of four relay, we each done 6 laps. Organisation was fantastic, the course was good, got a bit muddy through the night when it got wet. The riding was good and relatively easy, the lack of sleep was the real killer, 3 hours sleep in two days. When I wasn't out on the bike, I was taking a few pictures. Some of which are below : The night before the race. Mucking about before I had to go out Now I'm getting a bit nervous, A little light reading to take my mind off whet's coming up Alex Martin Macca Me Something to do at 5:00 in the morning when you can't sleep, take pictures An utter and complete madman...... Would I do it again ? Too right I would !!!

Tarbo, I feel for you mate, just being with Macca for 24 hours with alcohol is a challenge alone without the cycling. he performs well on up a gumtree wine. Last time I was away with him he had a bottle for breakfast and the ran up some monster mountain in the lakes. Are you going away with him in September? Tell him brows says hello!

Me and mikebike did the wildboar24 hour last year at Grizedale, wondered what we had let ourselves in for at the time but wasnt as hard as we thought. Would definitely do another. The night shift is definitely the best in my eyes. It was round an 11.2 mile trackand some mental bloke entered as a solo and finished with 22 laps in 24 hours
