Because the weather was so crap today and I finished work early so I thought I’d pop into my local fitness centre and book on a class. The woman recommended I go on the beginners class. So I took my spds shoes and went with an open mind. Thought it was really bloody good. It cost 2.50 and the instructor was very nice ;D, she kept telling me to go "harder", "faster", "Push it!" I wasn't too shore were to put the resistance though so I just went for it, I really did have it on almost the hardest it would go without being on stop. To be honest I thought I’d walk it, but I came out of there with a good old sweat on! So I’m really please and will be going back. I know it’s nowhere near as good as getting out there on the real thing but it’s a good way to keep the fitness up when it’s raining cats and dogs!
So if you haven't already tried it, do so on the next rainy day!

Ive also heard you get a lot of nice young women there to is it true

Each week it seemed to turn into a competition to see who could make the bikes smell of burning the quickest Last week it was 1 girl, me, 5 other blokes, one of which kept groaning and sounding like he was about to hurl for 45 minutes Never mind, new term starts at NEWI soon ;D 3

Me and the Soozmeister are planning a winter of spinning and are looking to go to the leisure centre at Llandudno junction, not sure of class times yet though.
Still got a few more Thursday night after work Marin bashing to get in before it gets too dark ;D ;D

I wasn't too shore were to put the resistance though so I just went for it. You'll get used to it if you go a few more times. Basically you control it because you can put on half a turn at a time, or 3/4 or a full turn. As the instructor says at our class: "It's your workout and if you want to work harder add more resistance" (i.e. if you're feeling lazy just put on 1/8 turn each time ;D)

i dont think its guna be something thats good for endurance riding but its good for a fast work out I used to go spinning twice a week and the difference it made in my fitness, strength and endurance was amazing. Sadly I haven't been able to go for a while but I'd thoroughly recommend it. Get yourself out of the beginners class though, Craig, and into one for the fit folks (only a long as the instructor is the same, of course ;D)

Ok so tonight I went for my first spinning session! I arrived there with the misconception that I was going to walk it... WRONG! ;D I was sweating buckets and really felt quite ill after 40mins with no breaks and quite an intense regime. Booked on for another class on Friday, obviously a glutton for punishment. ;D

Nice 1 Dan. Alot better than using an indoor trianer then? I keep saying I'll have to give it a go as I ain't got the motivation for the trainer at home. Which one did you get to? Did you have to book? And did you go lycra'd up?

Bloody hell that was hard, couldn't even talk at the end, also hit my max heart rate since i got my HRM which was 198bpm. It seems to be a lot to do with technique which i seem to need a lot of practice with. The problem was due to the bike being fixed gear eg when i stopped pedaling I was expecting to free wheel but it doesnt . A few of you have been doing it now so have you got any tips? Another thing that i couldnt grasp was standing up and spinning like feck, it felt like my legs weren't going to support my upper body weight which spinning that fast and standing, any pointers guys and girls ?
