Yeah I had a look into it a while ago ad put it in the can't be arsed pile ;D
I think Mark and Davydonn were going to do it but just doing Pen then riding down to the Marin.
I think you can do a loop from Ugly House to Dolwyddelan and back to Betws with loads of off road.
From Dolwyddelan the OS map shows a track over the top of the hill over Bwlch y Groes to the road you cross at Penmachno, and another from Ty Mawr to a campsite near the A470. You could probably cut back to Dolwyddelan through the forest and pick up Sarn Helen back to Betws to rejoin the Marin....somewhere.
Definitely possible and it looks like there's legal routes to do it as well. Might just be a bit of a slog!

Not got round to it yet but I have plans to see if I can extend my Marin - Moel Siabod route. I've got a route mapped out but haven't ridden it.

Yeh theres a few ways of doing it, a mega one is to use a few sneaky paths and link elsi in to it. Dont think there is a way without doing a little bit of road (wont be a prob on your new machine). Stick a post up when ya knee is better and I will come with you im pretty sure a few others will be up for it to

Yup there is a way of doing it. Myself and Chris Purt did it once. We started from betws and rode along the back road to the Marin trail head. We did the Marin Trail then picked up a fire road from the trail head at the marin back towards betws, but did'nt last long and we were back on the main road but was a nice rest for the more off road to come. We then went north on the A5 then after about qyarter mile from betws we turned left up a road and then riight in to the forestry. This took us over Llyn Elsi and down to the A470 between Dolwyddelan and the A470/A5 junction, at the main road we turned left heading back towards betws for approx 300mts then turned right at the hotel (cant remember the name) and climbed on tarmac before entering a forestry then back out up a hell of a tarmac climb which brings you out on the penmachno trail. We did the penmachno trail and headed back to betws along the main road from penmachno village. We were TRASHED after it, about 6.5 hrs ride and not far off 100k and it was F***in cold. And that was only penmachno loop 1, hav'nt thought of doing it after with loop 2 included. But would love to do it. Recomend to do it on a dry day, and warm day, from experience

Yes it's possible but you'd do around 2/3rds of penmachno first before branching off towards Betws to do the Marin before coming back to complete Penmachno.
There is a route in the bikefax book that goes from Penmachno to Dolwyddelan over Ro Lwyd/Bwlch y Groes. You would do around 2/3rds of Penmachno 1 & 2 before branching off towards Dolwyddelan. From Dolwyddelan there is a forestry road that goes over the mountain to near where the ugly house is in Betws (ridden this a few times). You'd then do the Marin starting and finishing at the ugly house before heading back the sameway to Penmachno to fnish off the remaining 1/3rd.
It'd be an epic!!!
