is it just me or do the '' where are you from and what bike do you ride?'' posts sound a bit dodgy? Not really, its not like you are giving out your address is it, its an Internet forum at the end of the day. Okay there is an outside chance someone could try and use the forum for inside info but thieves are generally not that clever and crime is mostly opportunistic so i think we are looking a little to deep in to all of this

Could I also suggest that the last 50 posts be locked down as people who are guests and not logged on can access the secure areas (i.e. plan your rides) from the home page on the forum!

Nicky - do not fear! I just logged out and clicked on the "50 recent" link and it didn't show me messages from the locked bits of the forum. If I logged in, they were there again

Thanks Thistle - must be my super duper hacking skills!!! lol Perhaps the forum rides should be locked down too as this would also let other people know where several cars will be on one day and how long they will be left there for (just a suggestion!)

Is it worth blurring out car number plates, it would be too easy to put bits of info together and work out where people live

i think we should blur faces out of any pics to. Or we could all carry a small strip of black tape that we could stick over our eyes every time someone takes a photograph ;D

We could get actors to take our place during the photos/videos. Hell, he can do the ride for me and i'll stay in the car

If people want to blur out bits of photos I think that's fine but they should do it themselves and not rely on the forum administrators ot do it! Like everyone's suggesting above - how far do you go....
At university the clubs and societies had to get permission from anyone in the club if they were in a photograph they wanted to put up on the internet.... it was usually covered by the club chairman saying at the start of the year "if you don't want to be in any photos let me know" but nobody ever did.

Nice 1 m8, forum admins have much better things to be doing with there time Personally I think this thread should be deleted as its getting far to out of hand. Peoples imaginations seem to running away with them ;D. I think most bike crime is opportunistic and cleaver criminals will have bigger fish to target than a bunch of push bike riders. We have taken a couple of precautions on the forum just in case someone is watching, now its a case of using a little common sense when posting

Agree with Oggy - just delete this complete post now - think the voting will stay with the majority of locking some key posts anyway. With regards to what is posted up, being that of 'wording' or 'photos' then everyone just needs to use their common sense really - no photos outside anyone's house with theit number on the door and car number plates etc

at the end of the day its our own faults for buying these fancy bloody bikes! if someone really wants to steal it they will. you could be in the middle of no where and someone could just push you off your bike and steal it. its just the way it will be
