spinning and swimming for me . by the looks of the number of people on here wanting to do spinning we could have our own class ;D hey guys, As some of you know, I am a spinning instructor in Saints Gym in meliden and the bike has 21 bikes. I take classes there 3 times a week, which get fully booked up very quickly by members. There are sometimes spaces available and if a few of you wanted to come and try I could book you in at £4 each to the gym for the class which lasts three quarters of an hour. if there are a lot of you I would be prepared to arrange a one off class at different time just for you lot Good like that arn't I perhaps you could run a poll or something to give an indication of numbers?? best class for you at the moment is a Monday night at 7:15 till 8pm What do ya think

Meliden's a bit out of the way for me, but i've done spinning a fair bit in the past and would deffo recommend this as a good fun way to work out and have a laugh. I've seen people carried out of the classes before now!!

After yesterdays forum ride, I've decided that I really need to maintain/build up my legs over the winter. It's going to be a job from what I can see. You just can't chuck the bike in the van after work and do the Marin in the winter. What should I do- get to the gym and bulk up my legs on the weights? What's this spinning business? (sorry for the thick question!) and would it be available in the Bangor area?

jjb (or dw as it's called now) in bangor has spinning classes and various other classes going on every day of the week which are all are free to members. only thing though they seem to be on during the day : ( so if you'r a 9-5er you won't have much of a choice. have a look though. there are plenty of cv machines there as well as weights. spinning is basically riding a stationary bike at various speed and resistance. usually in a group with an instructor setting the pace.

Wel, just sorted my membership out for the next 6 months at JJB in Bangor. They have 14 spinners, pool, saunas, steam room, free weights, loads of machines, as well as a lot of sweaty girls in lycra. I should be busy most evenings from now on, instead of demolishing a tube of Jaffa cakes whilst driving this keyboard most evenings!!

I tend to do more shorter door to door riding during the winter nights on the ht - thats when I can motivate myself to go out. Living in Blaenau does have its advantages as you get hills and get off road tracks quickly afer setting off from home.
Mostly I tend to do more gym work though, either cardio stuff , weights or will do some spinning classes this winter.

Just completed my first spinning session ever. Managed to find myself on the ADVANCED class , sweating cobs for three quarters of an hour. Thank God for ProMax, and the chicken dinner I had before going, otherwise it would have been a big bonk. really good sprinting work out, but bloody hell is it HOT- no slipstream to cool you down!! :R Looking forward to next week

Been going to my local spin class for the last four weeks now before I start work. Really enjoy it in a sick way! Can feel the benefit on the weekend rides when I need to get out of the saddle on the climbs. Plus theres plenty of scenery when your at the back of the room! Cud do with my camelback on as I ran out of water in my bottle last week after 40mins?
