Just thought this may start an interesting thread and give everyone some new ideas as to what to have for breakfast before a big ride. This has got to be one of the biggest under-estimates that newcomers make as to its importance and one that could really help a lot of people on their rides almost instantly.
So, whats your favourite pre-ride feed in the morning??
I'll start anyway...
Alpen and or Beans on Toast

At the most I have a couple of scotch pancakes (with nothing on them) and a brew. If I'm feeling hungry I sometimes have a banana.

Crunchy museli Unless I've run out of milk in which case it's toast. Unless I've run out of bread, in which case my bike ride is to the supermarket

If I'm racing or out for an epic with the club I'll get up early and have a bowl of pasta with some veg chucked in and a protein shake.
Failing that it's a protein shake, bannana and an apple.

That all sounds very healthy! I might be going wrong somewhere.
I had a fry up on Sunday in Porthmadog on the way to CYB to do the tarw trail. I could of kept going all day...
A couple of bacon baps also works well from previous experience.

Nice big bacon butty. Fresh bread, red sauce. Or if I'm racing - two of the above

I have got to get much healthier though after a few lazy years (I used to road race then quit that to play international level badminton for 2 years) so might stick to the other options further up!! Shame mind but gotta be done.

Bowl of Jordons country crisp (oat based ceral, very posh I know ;D) Protein shake Cup of green tea Banana in the car on the way to the ride, sumtimes with a bottle of Lucozaide
Or if riding in Scotland its square sauasage sandwichs ;D
On the subject of breakfast ive developed really bad sugar cravings in the mornings, i have my breakfast before i leave for work which usually consists of a bowl of country crisp ot beans on toast along with a protein shake and a cup of green tea.
For some reason on the way to my first job i carnt help stopping and getting a bottle of Lucozaide original and choclate bar. This carnt be healthy doing this most mornings but for some reason i crave this morning sugar hit. Any ideas as i really want to stop it?

Bowl of cereal, tea and a banana. Another banana on the way to the ride in the car. Ogs, you could try some brown toast and reduced sugar jam perhaps, that might take the bite off your sugar cravings
