I suspect I may have tendonitis in my right knee. I am getting pain just under my knee cap when I bend my knee and it's painful to touch it. I haven't knocked it or knowingly injured it so It's not a bruise. I was kneeling down laying laminate flooring on Saturday but the pain didn't start til monday afternoon.
Now the questions.
Is it necessary to see a doctor? How long can it last? What is the best thing for it?
I'm bored and want to get back on my bike asap.

After reading the other tendonitis thread (I only just saw it) it seems likely to be tendonitis. Off to the docs I reckon and no cycling for a while.....BUGGER!

The Doc will only give you painkillers. Ice it; rest it; and next time out use lower gears.

I don't think it's a cycling injury. The last time I was out on my bike was last thursday. I had no pain at all until monday.
As for using lower gears, I may aswel get off and push, lol.

Nope. Been to the docs and he reckons it's bursitis (Vicars knee). Bit of rest, ice and anti inflamatories and I'll be back up those hills.

My left knee has been giving me gip since weekend and it's not a repeat of my football injury so I too had a look at the the thread you mentioned and came to the conclusion it was Jumper's knee. I went out and got one of those knees straps and have had that on plus ibuprofen gel rubbed into it....yesterday however, I felt the pain above my knee cap so wondered if I'd knocked it so sat with my leg up last night with a bag of peas on it and today it seems a bit better although I'm very wary of buggering it up so I've cancelled footy today and tomorrow. Hope to be riding at Llandegla on Friday so I'll see how it goes then. Another thing is I work on my knees a fair bit (electrician not rent boy) and have had housemaid's knee a few times which basically is a build up of fluid but it feels like you are kneeling on a stone. For this my local GP sticks a needle in a sucks all the gunk out before giving it a cortisone injection. Get well soon...I'll let you know if I'm disable Saturday

I'm thinking I may have damaged it while i was on my knees laying the frooring on saturday but it's weird that the pain didn't start til monday. Anyway the ice pack is helping so it's not as bad as I thought it was.
I hope your knee is ok for your weekend ride Voodoo.

Managed 2 loops at llandegla today with the dodgy knee , one black and one red. The pain at the front of my knee wasn't an issue as that knee strap appears to have sorted that out but the discomfort from the top of my knee was a bitch not only on the climbs but more so when I was descending with a lot of rotation. I'm still not too sure whether this comes from a knock I have forgotten about or whether I have pulled it and I'm now doing it no good whatsoever.....time will tell...I'll have a rest tomorrow and might even clean the bike cos I couldn't be ar5ed today..(apart from the chain that is)
