I've been advised that it might be a good idea to start some core stability exercises to improve my mountain biking.
Does anyone know what exercises I need to do?
I'm currently unemployed so I can't really afford gym membership, but I have plenty of time on my hands to do a good workout.
Also, I suffer from lower back pain, will this improve with these exercises or just make it worse?
Thanks in advance

I can highly recommend Swiss balls ! !
You can get one for about a tenner in TK Maxx , or any sports shop, prob not much more. And they usually come with an exercise sheet.
As long as you're doing the exercises properly it should help your back.
If you're ever over my way you could have a go before you buy one ?
As long

doing sit ups should help with the lower back pain.
try doing squats. use a tin of beans as a dumbbell. maybe some press ups.
theres just so many things you can do.

Another good exercise is the Plank, you rest on your forearms and and your toes and raise your body up and hold for as long as you can, also reverse situps, you know it works just look at my six pack strong as steals as it holds up my party five pack thats rests on top of my sixpack. ;D

That floorwiper exercise looks quite good if you have back pain. Maybe somehow try and do it without the big barbell though.

Yes, a little 20kg barbell to start and work up (although I've found the double whammy is, you have to move the legs further forward to hit the bells than you would the larger weights!

You use a lot more muscles as you are constantly trying to keep your body stable at the same time . I will bring one on the next girls ride Sal - and you can have a go
