Went over to the land of cable cars for a week at the beginning of June, and although not primarily a biking holiday we did hire some bikes for a couple of days. Lesson #1 is that June is the lowest of the low season over there, and a lot of the cable cars aren't running so was forced to actually climb some mountains They do seem to be switching on to the idea of biking as a money spinner in the summer and have dedicated bike cable cars and laid out trails coming down from the top. Did this one which was enough for me: www.bike-circus.at/en/freeride/blue-line.htmlalthough there's plenty of more serious stuff. Without a guide it was difficult to find natural rides where you weren't riding uphill for a whole morning and then losing all the altitude again in a few minutes. Good fun, but after that much work, you want a longer reward really! A few photos.. Singletrack through the snow? Refreshing in summer We've not gone all religious... cross= trig point over there Going the wrong way up the singletrack guide required! Schattberg - 1200m of continuous climb from the valley Not biking, but this photo is class Ruperti is a popular name in Austria apparently One of the locals....
