Another good allrounder is Maxxis ignitor 2.1 xc. I have had them for riding all year round & have fitted them to a few other peoples bike now & done a tubeless conversion at the same time as the price in tyres isnt much difference so when buying new tyres, it is the cheapest time to do it & you wont regret it. It roughly cost around £100 ish for 2 ignitors & a tubeless kit. If you want anymore info PM me and i can sort it out for you.

Nowt wrong with the michelins - i did the december Marin Off Piste on them, and CYB ;D I have bitten the bullet and since gone tubeless with the Maxxis Ignitors as Mark has suggested. Only tried them once properly so far, but was pleased with them round llandegla.

Panaracer XC Pro 2.1 front and rear, you can't get better. They're soft enough for good grip, have a good open tread for muddy conditions, twin height knobbles for grip in all conditions, and a kevlar sidewall that will take some good hits and survive.

I am just about to try the Ignitor, 1.95 F&R Why so narrow? You'll end up running them really hard, the ride quality will be terrible and the grip even worse!? You need to get over the rubber fetish (or maybe start understanding it more ).

I am just about to try the Ignitor, 1.95 F&R ,you might as well stick roadies on mate. 2.1 is narrow enough for a mountain bike plus they will make your Ibis look gay.

Maxxis are a bit odd, some of them are really narrow for example 2.1 High Rollers look like 1.9 from most other brands then some of their newer tyres come up large, 2.25 Advantages look as wide as 2.4 Conti's !? But with all Maxxis look at the Durometer rating, 70A is dammed hard, 60/62A seems OK, 42a is really grippy but dammed draggy. Damon Honestly think you a ruining your ride by going too narrrow/lighweight. You have a bike that will take on almost anything the UK will throw at it and then you are limiting it by your tyre choice. Fave combo at the moment for me is 2.25 60a Advantage front, 2.25 60a Crossmark rear. Managed all that the BigRide could throw at it and it's coped great with the Clwyds and the Peaks, come winter I'll just stick an Advantage on the back. New tougher Nobby Nics look a good choice, if you can swallow the price. Panaracer Rampage 2.1's are good, kinda like the Fire XC Pro but updated with more modern compounds, got them on my singlespeed and they seem to be a good all round choice, not too slippy in mud, fast rolling and pretty grippy on trail centre stuff.

I use 2.25 Nobby Nics all year round on my full suss and 2.1 maxxis crossmark on the HT.
