Been told about this website whilst in graham weighs as a few of the staff who work there compete & organise events in there summer & winter series. Looking at having a go myself as it runs all year round & would be good traing & fun when the XC races are not running nwcycloxgroup.ning.com/

Looks like a good, friendly, local site I agree with you that it would be good winter training, but fun The way things are going in your household, you'll be able to make your own team up with the Mrs and kids

I know some of the guys on there and yes you will push yourself keeping up. My Cross bike was brilliant in the winter when most people were stuck going stir crazy indoors due to the snow and ice, I was out on it most days as the narrow knobbly tyres gripped pretty well.
My tip if you are looking at a Cross bike for fun then is to go with one with disc brakes on it, esp as the UCI has now sanctioned Disc Brakes. Trust me Canti's aren't the best thing to stop you even more so with muddy/wet rims.

I’ve done some of the winter series and the Duathlon last Sunday in Bethesda. A mix of MTB and cross bikes at these events and a good atmosphere. Definitely worth giving one of the rounds a go. Amlwch course is great fun, great mix of terrain and a BMX track in it. Pictures on this site: will49.zenfolio.com/f842406063

I'm hoping to do a load of cross racing over the winter. Should keep my legs spinning during the depressing winter months.
Is there going to be a Revolution series over the winter? Any sign of dates yet?

What's the duration of these events miles/time Dan? Not a clue mate. Jonesey's your man for info on the CX. If you're interested then it's a way of building some serious fitness over the winter for you. I'm going to be doing as many as possible. Shame Oggy's turned into a rad, bad, rig riding, gnarly mofo. He used to be pretty fit and would probably have liked a bit of cx.

The Amlwch course looks interesting. The bit by the windmill above the port, usually sees me there having my lunch every Tuesday on my work rounds!! ;D

To be honest, I wasn’t that sure myself on how the duration was worked out. Just used to go flat out and hoped the chequered flag came out after about an hour. I dropped Barry who organises some of the races an e-mail: “We try for 1 hour plus 1 lap. What I do is time the first 3 laps, then work out the laps for the rest of the race so it ends up about 65/70 mins . obviously everybody finishers when the leader does so they all ride for the same time but at different speeds, final 2 summer races are this week thursday prestatyn, and bank holiday sun amlwch we have four 3 peaks training races in the next 5 weeks 2 at prestatyn and 2 at llanberis all are welcome”

Not sure about the Thursday night jobs though because I timetrial that night. Do we just turn up and enter on the line?

If your in TLI then its a bit cheaper if not it's a fiver.
