Yep sals idea sounds great to me, all the money left at the end of the year go's towards to Ogwen rescue There isn't a chance I'm going to start charging every person who uses this forum, the forum is free to all and it is the forum rides that need insurance and not the forum itself. Also as Gus pointed out how many of the 500 odd members actually use the forum regularly and would be willing to donate towards rides they ain't even going on not to mention the massive amount of admin that would be involved in collecting money off every one. I really dont think everyone chucking a quid in a jar at every forum ride is that much to ask, what can you buy for a quid nower days :-/Ill also have a look in to setting up a paypal account in mbnw's name but I really want to keep admin effort down to a minimum and am unsure of any possible tax implications In reality we dont need massive donations if every person on a forum ride chucked a quid in then we would more that cover the CTC affiliation and would have a very nice donation for the mountain rescue

I removed my last message because it read wrong and I've have too much to drink!
I'd say a donation button on the home page or £1 per forum ride as Oggy says, excess money left over goes to charity and if what Ken says about £12 per member to CTC buys cover then you could choose to do that yourself (would need proof of mbnw membership for that?).

As a former member of 2 proper road cycling clubs in the past, one of which I was the time trial secretary, the last thing I want to do is join something that becomes a committee lead boring old farts club again. This forum is a success due to it's informality and common joy of just 'getting out there' with whoever fancies a bit! (ooo errr missus) Forum ride donations, I think, are a fantastic idea. Count me in

Agree with Iggy,Sal and Oggy.Keep it simple £1 per ride. You cannot get cheaper bang for buck! lets get it sorted before the Long Mynd!

Sounds like a plan, I am already a member of the CTC so already benefit, I think donations to the Air Ambulance & OMR is the way to go. £1 donation is a very small price to pay.

Sounds like a good idea , and if I'm reading it right If MBNW affiliate to it then individually Forum members if they wish can pay £12 per year and become individual affiliate members of the CTC and get £10 million pounds personal liability insurance plus other benefits . Winner. I can't see that part Ken- where is it -thats when we've joined as a group ? I'd get that too -sounds a bargain. I'd be happy to make a donation straight away and pay a quid or two on each ride as well

Also agree donation on Forum rides is a good idea , just lets not back date it or oggy and I owe £50 between us ;D ;D

Well worth doing, on the CCM an appeal every so often brings in enough donations to cover everything with some left over to carry forward to the next year or to use for the Xmas pissup.
If everyone just dips in their pockets next time they see Oggy or one of the mods then I'm sure it'll be easily covered.

I tryed to open a mbnw paypal before but it wouldnt let me as my bank acount is already linked to a paypal acount (my personal paypal) Also if possible i would like to keep the money away from my personal bank acount etc due to any possible tax implications etc.

Easy there's usually one of the mods out on every Saturday ride so quite straight forward to collect the cash. Plus let people who don't attend as many rides who still want to contribute PM you for details for bank transferring a few quid across as a backup option. Don't worry about the tax implications but just get them to put a comment on the bank transfer like "Oggy Male Escort" or similar
