Just to keep everyone in the picture on this
After a lot of phone calls to the CTC to clarify matters and get a lot of questions answered, the membership form has been sent off along with a cheque for the £100 required to join. The cheque was written out for the full amount by one of the members who would like to remain anonymous (Much appreciated ) and we're just waiting for the CTC to get back to us with a membership number (or whatever they send out as proof of affiliation).
I've also given them a list of 'Ride Organisers'. These are basically the names of people on here who tend to organise the majority of the rides in the 'Plan Your Rides' section. This has the added benefit of having not only the Forum Rides insured, but any rides posted up by one of the these 'Ride Organisers'. The list is not set in stone and can be added to at any time, so anyone thinking of organising a Forum Ride (or any other ride) can be added at any time in the future.
A quick outline of the insurance benefits that are available to us are given here
As explained and agreed by the majority earlier in the thread, the way to fund this was to ask for donations of £1 from those attending forum rides.
For those of you who don't regularly attend Forum Rides, but want to make a contribution to the running of the Forum and the benefits listed in the form on the link above, then you can make a one off donation if you wish. Unfortunately, this cannot be done through the modern hi-tech methods we take for granted these days, so will be done by the old fashioned method of sending a cheque to me in the post, or by giving some good old fashioned cash to one of the people on the list below. There is no minimum amount you can donate, just give what you can or want to. No list will be kept as to who has donated, so there is no pressure whatsoever to donate if you don't want to. However, a record of what has been collected will be kept to ensure transparency in the accounts. As stated in this thread, this is being done voluntary and in trust.
List of people wo have agreed to collect money :
Me
Oggy
Rallybiker
Dan B
Dan
Sally
Redkite
Or PM me for details of how to send a cheque
This is correct, but, and it's a big but To take advantage of this, everyone wishing to register must do so at the same time, putting their names on one of the CTC forms that are available from their website. This also has to be done by one person who would have to collect all the money and send it off along with the form to the CTC. A lot of work and organising for someone. Now if anyone would like to step forward and offer to take on this task..........
So there you have it. It has taken a little longer than anticipated, but we wanted to make sure we were doing things right and getting the best value for our money.
I'll update everyone when we hear more, which hopefully shouldn't be long now

....and if I'm reading it right If MBNW affiliate to it then individually Forum members if they wish can pay £12 per year and become individual affiliate members of the CTC and get £10 million pounds personal liability insurance plus other benefits . Winner.
