Not sure how everyone else did as rather behind rest of MBNW. managed to complete in circa 5hrs 20. Pleased with that as felt at certain times wasnt going to complete. Longest time ever on a mountain bike and infact more time today on bike than so far this year. Have nice war wound from stone chute All in all great day.

I did it too, got round in 4:03 on my watch so a bit gutted not to break 4 hours.
The climbing was brutal, 2413m quite simply the most hills I have ever ridden up on a mountain bike - and the wind!!!

Looks like a typical Dyfi, BIG hills, steep descents, more big hills and the odd surprise around every corner ;D Well done to all that completed it whether you were 'racing' it or just there to enjoy the atmosphere. I did hear that Mark came home in 60th position out of over 750 entrants, so a very good result there, and probably deserved for all the effort he put in before hand Still glad I never done it though ;D

that was absoultely amazing. i loved every minute of it.. well except for the 2 descents i deemed too steep to ride down... particularly rocky horror, that was grim even walking down.

What a day! Finished in 4:34 or something like that Got a pinch flat on the the first descent so was annoyed with that as about 100 riders went past me as I swapped the tube over Good to see us so well represented too - I only saw a few other MBNW guys, but it looks like there were plenty others in there. It was nice to chat with Andy, the FC Ranger and also meet Whytetrash, who runs the Marsh Tracks in Rhyl - hope you enjoyed the day! I felt pretty good for most of it but the final climb (it felt like 5km) just killed me and my back was killing by the end of it Oh well, at least the beer was welcome. Still, it was a great day and well worth going. Oh yeah - the world cup descent was ace ;D ;D ;D

Cracking day out, lot dryer than last year, Rocky Horror caught a lot of people out as it was a tad steep and loose, ace stuff! I managed to break a spoke in my rear wheel being a bit silly coming down World Cup so had to take it easy after that as loosing a spoke in a 24 spoke wheel makes it a bit wobbly, but still managed about 4:49 which is a great improvement over last year.
Banjo player in the middle of nowhere was a surreal moment, as was getting invited to a fertility rite by a fern waving transvestite near the finish.

What a day ;D, followed Mark to the start ending up right at the very front ! That didn't last long though and as soon as we were off I started going backwards as I settled into my own pace. I'd forgotten how long some of them climbs were and they just kept on coming whilst the descents seemed to be over in the blink of an eye. To make matters worse my front caliper must have moved on the first big descent and from then on one of my pads was constantly rubbing making a horrible noise that must have annoyed everyone around not just me . I suppose that's what you get for deciding to travel light and not carrying any tools (never again ). Eventually managed to sort it out at the feed station, then plodded along to the finish with the dreaded cramp starting to settle in during the last 10K. Finished around the same time as Mark who put in a great ride again. Well done to everyone who entered, just finishing that ride is an achievement to be proud of IMO .

Compared to last year, a lot dryer, couple of new descents Rocky Horror (mince capital but fecking excellent on a big forked bike) and Roller Coaster (as name suggests) band were better at the top of the first big climb of the day a good beat to pace yourself to and a bit more surreal with Deliverance banjo man, DJ etc
World Cup had the mid-section jumps removed on it but was a lot more cut up and loose than last year, drop off neat the top of it that caught a lot of people out had been filled in and the steepest bit at the bottom where it joined the fireroad had a lot more lines to pick from than last year (smoothed out a bit I guess)

Apparently Rocky Horror was put in due to rare birds nesting on original route. Was fun on short travel hard tail . Managed to go over bars as guy in front stopped and took the line I was taking as about to pass him. Hardest part was trying get back on bike due to slope and trying not get in way of people coming down. Some cheeky git asked me to move branch on track as I was trying to extricate my self from bike. World cup downhill was fun after that.
