Decided on a quick spin straight after work today, originally planned to do the mbr at CYB but since the weather was so nice decided to venture further for my first spin on the Dyfi ClimachX near Corris. Overall it is a very good track, with an excellent final descent back into the car park. The only criticism is possibly it's length, something like 15km in total I think. I did it at a very leisurely pace as I was on my own and in the middle of nowhere, stopping for photos etc in an hour and a half. Some pics below: Customary climb from the carpark. Some singletrack Wooden thingy Some more singletrack Start of the final descent Another wooden thingy Tight switchback on the way down And the final bike covered in sheeiite photo. Although the photo doesn't show it well.

Is this the place with "The Eye Of The Needle"?
How would you say it compares with the likes of the MBR, Marin, etc

the firs bit is like the marin. probably easier. the final decent is black but there's nothing too full on there.

As a forum ride I think you'd be looking at doing it twice to make it worthwhile for those traveling from far.
Seemed to be a lot of other singletracks there as well, don't know if they are building new tracks but the forest is massive - plenty of space and potential there.

It took me ages to find the trail!!
It was a last minute thing so I hadn't done my homework on where it actually starts, I just remembered seeing Corris on the map in Bikefax. After going up and down through Corris a few times and not seeing anything like signs I had to ask a lady walking her dog. Hope she didn't think I was stalking her.

There's loads of other stuff in the forest, some of which is used for the Dyfi Enduro. You can make a ride there as long or as short as you want without retracing your steps.

Will most probably give the Dyfi Enduro a go next year, should be fun.
My fault really gar as I left the house going to do the mbr but decided at Dolgellau to do the climachx. Didn't have a map or anything with me.
