Well we made it back.....Just. My legs are killing me I clocked the ride at 26.5mile but the ten mile back from Llangollen to Llandegla was pretty much all uphill, or at least it felt it. Great ride really enjoyed it. No real flowing sections but plenty of single track, great scenery, laughs and adventure along the way. We even got to practice our map reading skills ;D Here's some pic's as promised. The view from the Mast At least look like you know which way it is ;D It all got a bit confusing at this point Which led to us going down here Good fun, but mega slippy We eventually made it to Llangollen, where we bought a nice hot Lamb Oggie So here is Whitedog with a face full of Oggy (not for the first time Eh ;D ;D) Canal Section As you might have guessed from the bikes, yet again we're not sure which way See those 2 cars on the lower road. Thats where we should have been We had to go back down after climbing all the way up By now my legs were really starting to hurt On the right trail back around the panorama Whitedog safely negotiates the Fjord and heads up the final climb back to Offa's dykke. We had originally planned to do one of the trails at Llandegla after, but we both had to admit defeat and head straight back down the fire road to the carpark. I'm a beaten man Great ride today Whitedog. See you next week

For the time of year weather was awesome. We has a strong head wind towards Llangollen which fortunately got behind us on the way back. The rain held off all day which was a bonus. Coming back across the railway sleepers to Llandegla was interesting because the wind was blowing across us and mind and body had just stopped all communications. Sorry you couldn't join us. Maybe next time

Right time to post a few pics, quite happy sitting at the pc as my legs are still refusing to work ;D Mtbman just after our first where the hell are we going stop Mtbman deciding that we are definitely somewhere in North Wales Just came down that grass track behind, fast with no grip ;D ;D ;D looking towards the panorama(and our next map stop) If you are going to go the wrong way make sure it is up a steep hill Finally one for Martin, gotta say i agree Have to say it was a cracking ride, weather held for us and we weren't always lost, Mtbman knew exactly where the pie shop was ;D two old biddies pointed us in the right direction just as we were deciding if the path would run thru their garden ;D least next time we will sorta know where we are going

The only problem is this is definitely not like riding a trail centre I would only recommend this ride to anyone who enjoys getting away from the trail centre and battling the natural terrain. There are times when you will need to get off to negotiate gate/styles/unrideable sections as well as accepting defeat and pushing up some of the more severe hills, which to be fair were few and far between. I couldn't believe it was only 26mile my legs felt like they had done about twice that Great fun really I just wish I'd had some legs left to have a blast round some of the black sections on the way back.

Mtb and Whitedog looks like you you've had a real good ride, sorry to of missed out on this one just up my street but not a chance of getting there this weekend . Hopefully next time . Do you think you would do it any differently next time , ( other way round maybe ? ) not a criticism just a question . Photos give a real feel for the type of ride . See you Snowdon maybe.

Who's is the black hardtail? I'm sure I reconise that bike. Just some random bike propped up by the Jetwash in Llandegla. Only took a picture for Martin's mandatory Lycra joke ;D

Yeah next time I won't climb to the top of Trevor rocks only to realise we should of been on the bottom road ;D ;D Not sure about doing it in reverse I'd have to take some advice from Doug on that one. I know I found the return leg from Llangollen very tiring. I was running on empty by the time we had got back into the Forest Still some unanswered questions about the route. We went a bit wrong as we come down from the mast and ended up dropping down to far into the valley. Didn't really effect the ride, but it would have been nice to know where we went wrong.
