I'll be turning up for this fab cakes at the end, prob won't kill myself by doing it on a singlespeed this year thou, some of those hills were a bit hard work on a SS.

Not much info on the web page, has anyone done it previously? Be nice to go over the Berwyns again, although this time I'll have my elbow guards on!

Yes did it last year on my singlespeed, decided I'm never riding in the Berwyns again on a singlespeed. Was flying down the first descent of the day when I got a puncture that wouldn't seal in my rear tubeless tyre, 20mins later I'd fixed it only for one of the marshalls to tell me I was now last. This spurred me on to catch the rest of the field back up, I did and passed a fair few by the end. Fecking killed me thou, slept for about 13 hours that night, completely and utterly wiped out.
Cracking day out thou, ridden most of the trails before, the start/finish section is on private land so won't get the chance to ride normally. Good set of marshalls, great bunch of people doing it and some really good WI cake at the end. I'll be doing it again this year.

You can email the organiser for a sponsorship form, or if you turn up on the day with a handful of cash they'll let you in, I gave about £25 last year but I see it as an investment cos one day I might need that helicopter myself. Been out on a ride with the CCM where we had to get the helicopter out, a fantastic crew and some seriously stunning flying by them too.

I cant ride it this year as baby boy number 2 is due the week before. Heres the route connect.garmin.com/activity/84053252Turn up on the day, pay some money, go ride have fun and enjoy cakes at the finish. Signposted from Oswestry. Get there fairly early to sign on as there is usually a queue. Riders are set off in groups of 10 or so in minute intervals. They mark your number down with your start time, at the finish go straight back into the hall and tell them your number, they will give you a finish time and a certificate. Its a good ride with over 150 riders, and raises money for a good cause.
