Now that the pain has gone and I'm home after a 3.75Hr journey of traffic jams & roadworks, I think I really enjoyed that. Absolutely scorchio and thought I was getting heat exhaustion on the last climb with shakes, and a huge pulse in my neck. Got an apple down me which got me to the finish in 2.20.17. The bottleneck was moved further along the trail and seemed longer this year- shuffling along for 20-25min.! . Karl was on a stormer of a time for the full enduro (powered by 2 scoops of Jac3ed). I had to leave before Tarbo and Iggy arrived. Great weekend, thanks for the company. ;D

Which was the worst pain Aled the effort of the ride or the journey home from the Lakes on a Sunny Sunday . Sat in a queue bursting for a pi$$ was the most painful actually Ken! You'll be glad to know that I had an empty 2 litre water bottle. I think you'll be very interested to know that from full to empty, my bladder capacity is 1.5 litres, how does that grab you!!! ;D

Well done everyone.
Gutted for Gaz who went all that way only to have his rear mech tore off after 20 minutes! Better luck next time mate.

Yeah a big thanks to everyone for there company, i burnt out well early and only ended up doing the half but them muscle spasms were so painful it was unreal it looked like a disco going on in there ;D but when Iggy crossed the line and seeing his face i think i made the right choice but the worst pain was like Aled driving down the M6 hitting every bump with a ever expanding bladder with the sign 10miles to the next service, it was the longest 10miles ever

Well that was a toughie out there yesterday. A combination of the heat and not enough fluid took it's toll towards the end of the 30 miles. Everything started well as we all waited to start, well I say all, all except Karl that is who pushed his way towards the front to make sure he had a clean run to the bottleneck After eventually crossing the start line Iggy, Rupert and myself got a steady rhythm going and after an initial 10 minute wait at the bottleneck, (where we could see Karl up ahead pushing his way to the front of the queue ;D ), we soon passed most of the dribblers. Unfortunately that's where we passd Gareth who had managed to smash his rear mech, and effectively ending his day after approx 4 miles in A further 2 miles later I suffered a rear puncture, so pulled off the track to fix it, and that was the last I saw of Iggy and Rupert until we met again at the finish. All in all, a tough ride but rewarding once it was all over. Lots of good rides with Woody coming in first in under 3 hours, then Karl at 3 and a half, Rupert 2 minutes later then Iggy a further 15 minutes behind. I came in another 15 minutes after that looking lik death warmed up and feeling rough The others doing the half enduro seemed to have a great time too. And don't believe the girls when they tell you they're not competitive ;D All in all a great weekend with 12 of us staying in the camping pods on Saturday night and enjoying a beer or two together. Great company and a top laugh. Cheers Some pictures to follow once I get them off Sandi's camera.

well done everyone, it was tough with in heat. Yes was looking for the others at the front of the start line but nowhere to be seen, on the bottleneck a few riders found were very gracious and let me through a couple of places but they probaly passed me on the next climb. Well roll on next year for another bash.

Well I set out this year with the intention of beating 4 hours, since my time last year was 4 hours 15, so I was very pleased to come in just under 3.5 hours. I think the course was shorter this year, but not by that much. Although the sun was blazing all the way round, the trails were really surprisingly slippery in places, especially in the shade of the trees, so I think we all had a few "moments". A few of us stayed on for another day's riding, so we refuelled with some top notch pie, chips and some nice ales. Thanks for a great weekend with good company folks. By the way, we only changed the clocks by 1 hour this weekend, so I'm not sure how we ended up back in 2010 ;D

My first time riding the Whinlatter Challenge . In retrospect, thoroughly enjoyed it, but going up 'that' climb in blazing sunshine I wasn't enjoying it too much . Crawled past Rob, who was being attacked by the cramp , looking forward to the technical downhill, then got stuck behind a dribbler. Still, made it round in 2hrs 42 officially including being stuck in the bottleneck, bike computer showed 2hrs 23mins riding with one quick feed stop. So I'm happy Had a great weekend, glad we just headed back to the campsite to enjoy the sunshine, then refuel on pie. Thanks for the great company, everyone

Had a great time, can't believe how nervous I was beforehand Weather was fantastic and brilliant company. Never thought I was competitive until I saw Buffy blazing off downhill to the finish, never managed to catch her, but overtook two people to finish 19 seconds behind. ;D It was a shame Karl, Sharon, Aled and Rob had to leave and missed out on the Monday ride.
