Looking thru Rupert's link to Bike Radar I found an insurance scheme that seems too good to be true. All bikes in an household; accident insurance; bike replacement; theft; you name it they got it covered. All for £24 per household plus 10% excess Do you have a link to, or details of this insurance scheme? It's on the Bike Radar site; suggest you put in search for bike radar/insurance; it may getyou something; or you can go back in the blog's begining to Ruperts first blog it's there, then look at the adverts

Taking the little'un up to the Panorama to watch you guys come through, then going to ride back along that beautifull bit of singletrack that we rode on Dan B & Aled's forum ride. This will take us back through Newtown Woods to home, then watch you coming back past our house later on. Remember to give me a shout if you want me to snap you,not much chance of picking you out in that lot.

Well last road "training" ride this evening. Went and rode "the shelf" in the dark for the first time, as it was the only major climb on the route I haven't ridden. Nothing like as bad as expected.. I think the climb out of Bryneglwys will be the worst on the route and probably the least ridden of any of them. Descent afterwards will be... interesting... on a proper road bike too Starting to actually look forward to this now

Well the carbs have been loaded, and the road bike has been cleaned properly for the first time in... errr. about 18 months ;D Oh and also figured out how to attach a race number to the back of a GoreTex jacket without making holes with the safety pins... not that it's going to rain of course Good luck to everyone else doing it if I don't see you at the start

I hope the weather is good for you all! Weather was shite for all us spectators at the top of the Horseshoe Pass! We were freezing cold and soaked through by 2:30 so gave up and went home, where it seemed to have been warm and sunny all day

I was up at the top of the climb at Bwlch y Groes, and although it wasn't raining (at first) it was very windy. The leaders went through at 11.30am, then most people started coming through after 12pm.Saw a few familiar faces including Bev and Priceyla. Heard a lot of grumbles about how hard the route was, quite a few pushers up the steep parts of the climb. I waited till I saw Rupert and gave him his extra supplies, then went home to warm up

I've uploaded all of our photos: s1122.photobucket.com/albums/l538/pete139/Etape%20Cymru/Although I don't think I snapped any of team MBNW (only saw Rupert just as we were going home!) There's reports on BikeRadar that the event was sabotaged by people removing/altering signs for the route and lots of riders went the wrong way (and would also explain why the road out of town was still one way at 11:40). Couldn't believe how many idiots were ignoring the road closure on the Horseshoe Pass though. The leaders had traffic coming at them as they didn't seem to have shut the road in time, we saw two near misses where riders narrowly avoided getting run over and countless people just driving up and down the pass with no regard for the riders. There were plenty of the usual twats pulling out in front of bikes on their way down, forcing the riders to go slow down the hill they had just ridden up. One of the guys at the timing line said that (even though there were god knows how many signs saying the road was shut until 2:30) there were cars queuing up to get through and were being let through in groups. If the organisers paid for the road closures and for the police enforcement I hope they will be asking for a refund, it was a disgrace. If I'd paid all that money to take part in a closed roads event and I was having to avoid traffic like on any other day I'd be asking for my money back.
