Looks a cracking route that... I've ridden up the Bwlch y Groes from the Bala side but I think it's harder from the other direction? £15 is a bargain compared to some of the other events!

It depends what you do with it Ben - I think you might find a few RB clubs and I'm sure they'd welcome you. Just a thought LTA don't have a squash section and English FA don't have rugby section

Updated list of the foolhardy forumite entries: Ben Oldbird Phil Rallybiker & 1 Woody Gruffalo I went for a drive around the route today, and I'm knackered! Some huge climbs and some huge descents! The temp gauge on the van went up 20' on the Bwlch y Groes climb, where I passed a pushing roadie half way up! I'm toying with the idea of using the Scott on slicks instead of the roadie because of the hills, although the mid section of the route around Talerddig is fast and flat for a good distance. The steady climb from Corris to the top of Gartheiniog forest is a grueller with two 17% and two 20% climbs thrown in, before a scary decent to Aberangell (watch the gravel on the corners!) If I finish it'll be a miracle, getting to Mach after 50 miles will be a bonus! WE MUST BE MAD! Heyho bring on the chamois cream and an icepack cushion!

Myself and my mate Ifan are planning to do the upper half of the route this bank hol weekend, probably Monday. We'll start from Bala car park, go up through Aberhirnant, over Bwlch Hirnant and Llyn Fyrnwy. We then go via Llanwddyn, Yr allt boeth to Llangadfan, where we join the A458. We'll ride this through to Mallwyd and onto the A470 to Dinas Mawddwy then turn off to return to Bala via the Bwlch y Groes climb. Should be 40ish miles. Any would be entrants interested in a training ride? I'll also post in the Plan your rides section
